@Cheapskate - the free websites like olio, trash nothing, FB marketplace etc are good places to pick up free curtains. I got some for our large French doors via one of these sites only recently and am very pleased with them. Keep meaning to post a photo - will do once back from visiting with family.

@Cheapskate we have got quite a few curtains on ebay and facebook. We use extra linings. You can get thermal linings to add on but i make my own with thermal linings fabric. You can also make thermal curtains with a duvet and shower curtain. They are called something proper but I can’t remember.I don’t know your circumstances but when I got divorced I was quite short of money and I took in a lodger. You can earn up to £7500 tax free and it costs practically nothing extra except a bit extra on your bills and council tax. It made such a difference to my finances. Best of luck anyway.10

OH put the heating on before, after 20 mins I turned it off. One of us was sat down doing nothing but watching tv in a thin jumper, whilst the other was running around sorting the house and tea out wearing a chunky fleece. Needless to say you can tell which one was me. Wouldn’t have minded but when I went out in the garden it was windy but mild.:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.008

My husband laughed because I have put a second jumper on. Its not cold outside or if you are doing stuff but sitting still i get cold.6

@Cheapskate sorry to hear about the divorce. Check Dunelm for curtains too - I grabbed a couple of large pairs of lined curtains reduced to £16 a pair.9

@Cheapskate - try eBay for second-hand curtains- a couple of years ago, I got four chenille curtains, fully lined, for under a tenner inc postage… two are our bedroom curtains in cold months. The other two are a door-curtain- I folded one nearly in half and just used strong safety pins to pin the fold onto the bottom of the other curtain so it makes a very long curtain that completely covers our front door, on a £4.00 bit of curtain track fixed to the front edge of the shelf over the front door.2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Other half put the heating on this morning, his joints are not liking the damp weather, plus is we know it works. I pulled the door curtain across last night, it stopped some of the draft and made it warmer.£71.93/ £180.008

Throws over your knees or slip into a sleeping bag and zip yourself in if you’re watching tv
hot water bottles are great when sitting watching tv as well. I have some thick wooly socks and soft pull on slipper boots that my eldest grandson bought me several years ago which I keep especially for the really cold winter mo this I have to take anti coagulants so my feet even in the summer are cold. As Martin sats heat the body not the house if your just watching tv9
