I did order some bedding from Amazon yesterday. We went for a 10.5 duvet as I dont like feeling too hot and we can add extra blankets. I bought some new white duvet covers and a white snuggly throw too.

The only thing is that my dog sleeps in our bed so white will be harder to keep clean!

I think because she would rather keep her duvet for here, we don't have any spares (other than v thin summer togs) and no single duvets, so we'd have to buy one anyway so may as well buy a single as it's cheaper.

She doesn't drive and will be coming back by train/coach so it's not practical to lug between the two

Ooh that's a good idea, didn't think of that. She'll probably use both all the time, she literally rolls herself up like a sausage

Can she stay in hall for all three year?Halls are usually fairly warm but if she has to go into a house or flat after her first year she might need the extra warmth.

No, she wants to go into a house for the other years, her brother has stayed in halls and it has made things much cheaper and easier

I would second buying her a double duvet if she runs cooler - Asda usually have their student offers on around now so a couple of sets of their double bedding won't be too much more expensive than single.

We've actually got tons of double duvet covers/sheets too anyway so that would help as well
