Hello all
I can't remember which OS thread it was on but there was talk about Turtle Doves and their fingerless cashmere gloves. Thought this thread would be a good place to mention them.I liked the idea of them but £35 is a lot of money to pay so I was really pleased to see they have an Ebay shop selling factory seconds for £7.99 including P&P. If you want more than one pair it's even cheaper. You can't pick a colour but for that price I'm not bothered!I ordered a pair that arrived 2 days later and I'm still not sure what is wrong with them
They are fab and so warm. Link in case anyone else wants a pair
Link above sold out (1000 pairs!)New one correct 30 September.
Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs

I'd be very much obliged if you could kindly provide a link to the appropriate legislationLaura_Elsewhere said:... it is illegal, plain and simple, whether it’s burnt on a garden bonfire or in a log-burner or an open fire…

@SuperMoose thank you for sharing the link, I have some but have always bought in the sales as they are expensive full price.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I found this:
Open fires and wood-burning stoves - a practical guide (defra.gov.uk) (page 2)
which means I have to clean up my act. I was in the habit of chucking rubbish in the log burner - possibly the reason the chimney needed to be swept.
Oh well, I live and learn. On the more positive side, it seems our home-grown logs should now be dry enough to use. I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

We had some old roof beams from when we had our Victorian roof replaced. We cut up a couple and burned them in the log burner. We thought they hadn't been treated with anything but they obviously had been and it was still very potent 150 years later as it set DH coughing. This despite having an efficient clean burn stove. Never did it again and we certainly wouldn't burn fencingIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!9

I saw this the other day after waiting for the seconds to be restocked on the website (£10 on there!), Just looked again and used code TREAT5 and it took£5 off.SuperMoose said:Hello all

My dad gave me a shopping list the other day...candles - tall household ones, batteries, camping stove and gas.
I think I've worn him down at last!
DD bought him a good LED torch too, saying he could have the candles on condition he doesn't carry them around the house, but uses the torch instead. The message is slowly getting through.2025 Fashion on the ration

Emergency candles are undoubtedly useful but if somebody is elderly or unsteady on their feet they can be a real fire hazard. . Storing a spare torch in bathroom, bedroom, lounge, kitchen in a recognised place is probably a safer optionMrsCD said:My dad gave me a shopping list the other day...candles - tall household ones, batteries, camping stove and gas.

Or a head torch, so both hands are free to grip railings and such.
