I was in town today and it seemed that people are trying to get their Christmas shopping in early in case we get moved into a higher Tier. In particular hats and scarves seemed to be selling remarkably quickly considering it's still quite mild down here in London. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!7

I’m almost done with my Christmas present-buying and haven’t needed to step into a shop once. I started in the summer sales and think I will do it this way from now on, planning early has meant I have been able to wait for discounts and sales and pounce when the price is right!
On the subject of weather, OH who is knowledgeable about these things tells me he has heard it will be a cold December this year.Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...6 -
I've knitted ankle-warmers for my shivering Aged Parents, and my 20-something nieces have both asked for food-covers - you know the things, a circle of tulle-net with glass beads all round the edge, to put over a bowl or glass? Dead easy to make, very cheap...
No idea what to make for Mother-out-law or for My Intended, but I'll think of something!
When you make presents you really have to start in about May...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

At the speed I knit the thought of knitting presents is a bit scary. I did knit a toy dinosaur for my little nephew one year. It took me ages but I did just get it finished for Christmas. Baby hats are OK as they are only small and if I do them for the time of year the baby is likely to need the hat they it gives me a bit longer if needed. I tend to do food, but that starts early too with the seville oranges for marmalade if I manage to get them. Usually marmalades, jams, pickles and chutneys and then perhaps some other things that need to be done closer to the time. I think my knitting is probably good enough now that I could knit something simple and small, a hat or mittens perhaps. Maybe I will have a try next year (if I start in January I will have all year to get it finished).

Have to admit to using Mamade for making marmalade, can't be bothered with Seville oranges! Much easier and know that the marmalade is going to be edible! In fact have washed some jars ready to make some tomorrow, just need to sterilise in the oven whilst making the marmalade.10

finally filled the gap between the skirting board and the floorboards by my dining table, been feeling a huge draft through there the last few windy days and it made a big difference, why did I put it off for so long.? not had my heating on much here, just a quick boost one in a while. lighting candles and drawing the curtains is making it feel all cosy.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.
