Up with DD1 for the weekend and 10+cms of snow overnight, the best snowball fight in many years with DD1, James and his two boys this morning and then we drove home after lunch. The roads were all clear and running well, no holdups anywhere and I'd laid up the fire and filled the kettle and put tea in the pot before we left on Friday so within 10 minutes of arriving here we were warm and sat having a nice cuppa. The sky looks leaden just at the moment and we have lying snow here in Hampshire, not nearly as much as we had this morning in the 'Shires though. I hope it thaws quickly I really want some SPRING!!!0

I am really fed up with the bad weather now,I have arthritis in my joints and the cold and damp makes me soundy like a creaky old gate at this time of the year and if I get cold my joints just won't work very well at all and as I am a fairly busy person I hate the immobility. Plus icy roads and paths keep me stuck indoors grr. I shall be very happy once this cold spell has gone and I can get out and about again.Three weeks today I am due to go on holiday in a caravan for a week Fingers crossed it warms up a bit by then
:):) The sun makes everyone smile a bit more Last Friday it was gorgeous in Kent and by Saturday afternoon we had thick snow once more

Tell me about it! It's all gone now, including that on my solar panels, but yesterday I reckon all the girls/women in my football team were waiting in bed for the message from the manager that our game in Hamsphire was called off. Normally I'm disappointed...0 -
Well according to the Scots weather forum, it isn't over yet. And here's a fabulous quote for next year -
"And as for next winter, here's yer forecast: nae sunspots. Go long in huskies, bread and milk."0 -
Love that quote Mardatha, I think that your weather forum would be a lot more useful to me than the London based ones which are often quoted, since we get a lot of 'weather' here in the North East! You've prompted me to look for something a bit more local.:)
Sitting here with a smug smile, as I darted out into the garden this morning at the first sign of sunshine. Got a few little jobs done, and really enjoyed watching the birds removing vine weevils from a pot of old compost I'd emptied onto a board on the deck. Double bonus!
Spring is on it's way folks, hang on in there. (Even if it is chucking it down now....)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Please and Thank You are the magic words;)0 -
It`s not supposed to be winter any more but it is cold and miserable, 4 whole days of rain yellow warnings ahead. Its BORING weather. I feel very sorry for all those people on holiday away from home, camping and the like. Hope they brought wet suits with them0

We left this morning with snow on the ground, travelled to south west Scotland and it's glorious! Weather warning for home county on Monday for a lot of snow bit it's just rain coming where we're spending the week. I'm concerned for my seedlings but they're mainly brassicas and covered in the greenhouse with fleece. As a gardener I really could do with the ground warming up now.0

Huddled beside a radiator, tucked under a fleece with a book. I can recall some previous Easters where I,ve been was out in the garden wearing shorts and sowing my veggie seedlings. I fear this Easter is going to be a gardenening write-off and such a shame for all the small charities who have organised their first fund raising events of the year.
The bird feeders had to have a thorough wash and decontamination this morning. It has rained so much recently here all the food had gone sodden and mouldy.0 -
I already posted this in the Prepping thread but I suppose it really belongs in here - this is a farmer in the Scots weather forum :
"The damage from the start of March is begining to emerge from the melting drifts as hundreds of dead sheep are discovered in the hilly areas of the borders and central Scotland. These hardy Blackface sheep are always left to fend for themselves on the hill and normally can survive most storms but I believe the depth of drifts is the worst seen for decades."
My forecast is for sleet and heavy snow due on Monday I think. I want so much to get out into the garden but its sitting at 3C here and baltic in the wind0
