if you're ever in a pinch.. doritos make great firelighters. Just light the crisp and then pop it in, the rest will catch light very quickly.

It was a suggestion from a friend I was camping with.. thought they were joking but said "ok we'll try" and it worked brilliantly! :rotfl::T

Just to follow on from my post yesterday went to primarni for kids pjs and got DD 2 thickish pairs - a brushed cotton pair - a fleece pair - a onesi & some slippers for a really good price. Thought the supermarket would have been the cheapest but these look and feel lovely and are really nice.
    Living the simple life
  • Chimney sweep booked. Can't wait for an open fire. We rarely have it because we are in and out so much, but nothing beats it on a date night in.

People looking for thermals, Aldi have some great ones in their cycling special this week. Not cheap cheap, but good value.

And Lidl are doing onesies from Sunday 9th - £7.99

Ref silverwhistle's post (above) though, what's the theory of taking the bark off logs? Never heard of that before!

I've had a lot of Leylandii (the tree surgeons don't want it) which burns well when dry, but it's just a precaution to avoid the resiny stuff which you find mainly in the bark. Won't bother with the oak, for example: the free stuff I picked up yesterday won't be ready this winter.

Am I supposed to know how much soot came out of my chimney? Cos quite honestly I can think of better things to know.

It's a commonsense safety thing really (as well as the efficiency aspect), like having some idea what your tyre pressures should be.

You know I'm really not sure the supermarkets are always the cheapest. Primani gives them a good run for their money.
Last year Primani was cheaper than Tescos and TU when I was shopping for PJs. And it's best to buy something you like!

I will hopefully have time to go on Wednesday and get some more PJs!

    Welcome to October! :T

Confession: I put the heating on for about 15 minutes this morning.. it was just too chilly. Not had it flushed yet, but we do have a date set which is good.

Light-switch replaced today so one less thing to worry about as it gets darker earlier.

Might be a silly question but how on earth does central heating warm anywhere in 15 mins
