'Wimpey no-fines' building insurance

I have just completed the purchase of a wimpey no fines house: I had little problem getting a mortgage but it has been harder to get building insurance.
Am a bit worried now that it wasn't such a good idea after all.
I have called Allianz who have said they wouldn't insure, Tesco said they will get back to me and Halifax, who is also my lender, said they won't insure if it's prefab or timber framed - the surveyor's report does not specify that.
Now it could be that because I called right before they closed that I spoke to people who were not well informed.
Anyone know of good companies who would offer affordable insurance?

My Mom's house is an ex-council Wimpey No Fines semi built in 1953.
She has been insured with Liverpool Victoria for years.
The premium for July 2014 to July 2015 is £341.66 including Legal Expenses of £17.77 and accidental damage for both buildings and contents. Sorry I can't see the split for contents/buildings.
The cover is £500,000 buildings, £125,000 contents and £100,000 legal expenses.

The previous owner had a landlord insurance from a company that only caters for landlords.
DollyDee: Do I need to call them and specify the type of build? If I can do it online, do I chose 'concrete' as the type of construction?0 -

Mom did her own insurance but she hadn't got t'internet so it would have been over the phone. Concrete would seem the closest but if it were me I would speak to someone and definitely specify "No Fines". You wouldn't want to find out you weren't insured in the event of a claim.
I can't ask her because she passed away very recently which is why I've got all the paperwork.

When it comes to selecting the type of construction ... Do I choose concrete non-combustible, concrete combustible or other? Or do I need to call directly to inform them that it is a 'no fines'?0 -
