Purchased childs sofa on ebay, arrived broken - advice needed!

Hi all, I need some advice on where someone would stand with this:
Someone bought a childs chair (armchair) on ebay, it arrived, they unpacked it and realised it was broken.
Contacted the seller who said no return, ebay said to contact the courier (Yodel). Courier said as it has been signed for, they can't do anything.
Obviously it was a bit unsuitable to check at door if item was perfect, and I've told the person in question to maybe consider doing so next time.
But, do they have any hope of getting a replacement at least? It was for a Christmas present, so really would like some hope for them
Thanks in advance

Try asking on The Ebay Board.0

Lodge a paypal and ebay complaint. Your friend should get their money back at least. If the item broke during the courier process, it probably isn't safe for a child.0

Completely agree with this. This seller can't escape their responsibilities.deannatrois wrote: »If the item broke during the courier process, it probably isn't safe for a child.
Disagree with this. Couriers throw stuff around, onto and off lorries etc. Children wouldn't do this.0 -

They said they have but both refusing to help. Thanks to all posters :A0 -
You can put in a claim online on eBay to get the money back, you don't need eBay's help. Has your friend put in a claim, and if so what was the outcome?0

Don't speak to ebay via livechat- it's a waste of time0
