Tesco : £8 Louis Delaunay Champagne Brut NV (750ml)

I bought one bottle as soon as I saw this on the shelf to give it a try and quite enjoyed it (nicer than the Asda one!). Tried to get another six bottles the following day and the next but no joy. Checked my local stores again today but still no stock in any. Shelf label says offer ends tomorrow. There is nothing to say while stocks last on it. Can I get a raincheck and get some after the offer has finished at the £8 price?:beer:0

Jilly is not keen on any of the cheaper champagnes tasted! Which is a shame. What she does say is that it is cheap because it is so young, so keep it a year! That's what I'm going to do.
Jilly on the mail online website says this.
VERDICT: After all the hype about this bargain, it’s a shame it disappoints. The watery white colour suggests it’s newly hatched, as champagne gets deeper in colour as it ages. A way to keep prices down is selling it as soon as legally possible after it’s produced, saving on storage costs.
The taste is like liver salts, or unripe Granny Smith skins, with an aggressive acidity. I wouldn’t finish the glass. At a push, you could subdue the harsh flavour with a few drops of cassis to make a Kir Royale. If you must buy it, stash the bottle under the stairs and hope it has matured by next Christmas.

It is annoying though how price is no longer an indicator of quality. Just think how bad you would feel if you fell for the line, you get what you pay for, and bought it at £26. Frankly, as I suspected, the lowest ever price (seen on mysupermarket) must be the real price for all wine comparisons.0 -
I did say that is was terrible champagne earlier in this thread and no-one listened to me, such was the pursuit of a bargain.
It's only a bargain if it's good value.0 -
Think I will hold out for M&S doing their deal on Cava.
There is usually a glitch as well which brings the price right down.
Never been disappointed with any of M&S Cavas - except for the year I added a few bottle of the rose cava to my trolley.
Very disappointed with that one.0 -
Not true about Jilly Golden as she said the ASDA £10 a bottle champers was OK. We don't have an ASDA near enough to try a bottle. But I believe the offer is on until end of December."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
