Woolworths wont replace 2 month old wardrobe!

I bought a wardrobe for £299 using my Woolworths online credit account. After a few weeks the mirror doors keep falling off. The hinges keep coming from the frame. This product was assembled correctly by my husband but in our opinion the mirror doors are too heavy for the frame that's why they keep coming off. I rang Woolworths who sent Someone from Eco master. In my house he was telling me how it was dangerous and how he can't repair it ect and went on his way and write a report saying I danaged the doors! I havnt. All I have done is open the bloody doors and only when I have needed to. To add insult to injury they have added a £45 call out fee to my bill. I am not accepting what they say but they refuse to help me further. I have contacted CiTizans advice who have said I will need to get an independent report but he only company I can find are charging £125 which I don't have and Woolworths will only reimburse £45 so I'm losing money
Any advice how I can fight them without paying out more? I'm so upset!

Once you have got an independent report confirming that the wardrobe is inherently faulty, then Woolworths will refund the purchase price, their callout fee and the cost of your report.

Of course the risk is that your independent report doesn't show the goods to be inherently faulty, in which case you will have thrown more money away.

An inherent fault is one that was present at the time of sale but not necessarily present at that time. In other words, that the problem isn't due to misuse, fair wear and tear or user error.

Maybe The Furniture Ombudsman can help you but I don't know if they cover self assembly stuff..

google this forum and send a letter before action to see if that scares them into a response. However if it doesnt, then your options are limited without shelling out more costs.

Who are Ecomaster? The manufacturer? Why are they saying it was dangerous?

Who added the callout fee? That couldnt have been passed to you if you didnt instruct it, although I see you have been reimbused (still confused though).

Eco master are the people who come out and inspect the furniture for Woolworths to see if it was my fault of manufacturer fault. They concluded it was my fault. I don't accept this. The £45 charged has been put on my account and they won't give me this back

I think keyser666 might have been surprised Woolworths sell wardrobes. I was surprised they were still going, but that's another story!

I thought with it being in the first 6 months that it is up to Woolworths to prove that it isn't inherently faulty?

I'd be escalating as far up the complaints ladder as possible before forking out more of your own money to rectify.

Can you tell us the make/model - are there any reviews to suggest this is a 'normal' problem for these wardrobes?

They have done with their report surely, how much further do you want them to take it?
