Do you leave your purse/wallet at home?

Hi all,

Just a little query - I am always tempted to take out money to buy something during the week e.g. a drink at work or a magazine even though DH and I agreed to have a personal spending budget of £15 a week!! I have serious will power failure I'm afraid and at the end of the week have nothing to show for it.

I have considered leaving my purse at home to avoid this but am always worried that if I break down in my car (travel to appointments) I would be stuck, I have a phone but worry that I might need my debit card.

Anyway do any of you leave your wallet/purse at home to avoid spending, or should I stop worrying so much and control myself :o:smiley: be nice!

    hmmmm thats a toughie!

I get a lift into work with OH so I dont worry about breaking down, but I think if I was driving my debt card wouldnt help anyway. I often go out without cash or cards as it helps to resist temptation.

If there was something I desperatly needed I could borrow money from someone at work or the petty cash tin.

I tend to keep extra food at work and a bottle of squash so that if I fancy something I can have it. That reminds me I have three chocolate biscuits in my packed lunch that really should be eaten!

Im goining to buy enough squash and nibbles for the whole month and leave them at work and just bring a sandwich in each day to save money.

I dont bring my wallet with me if i dont desperatly have to as the temptation is to hard to overcome.

I don't carry any money but take my switch card with me in case of emergencies. I make a point though of not leaving the office at lunchtimes unless I really need to go to the bank.

you could put your spends money in a different purse then you can see when its getting close to nothing, it makes you realise what you are spending it on.

I only work from 8-1pm so I go home for lunch. I always leave my money at home unless I have to catch the bus after work to go to the shops (for legit reasons of course) I walk to and from work too . So going to work can most weeks cost me nothing at all! - Which is good cause i get paid b**g*r all!

I have a budget of £10 a week for little extras and some weeks I have most of it left. I keep it to myself (ie away from hubby...) and add the following weeks money and buy myself something nice. Clothes usually. this keeps me on the straight and narrow!
