I want to change my phone handset. The current 3 SIM is the standard SIM. The new handset requires a Micro SIM. If I take the existing SIM into a 3 store will they trim it down for me for Free?

Give them a call, I've done this loads of times and they've sent me one in the post 1st class.

They might be able to give you one in the store, I don't think they cut them down these days.

They exchanged mine for a nano SIM free in-store. You'll need photo ID, otherwise they'll charge £1 to a card and reimburse it in cash

Oh right ok. I'll have a go with that then.

OK, job done. I've been in touch with 3 and they are going to send me a replacement SIM in a 'deferred' state. With the SIM will come some instructions on how to shift the number from the existing standard SIM to the replacement micro SIM. Apparently it can be done online or by phoning them.

    So far, so good.

When you do ask for a Nano to regular sim adapter too, they are usually free, that way if you need to swap back for a short while you can do so easily...

Thanks for that info. It's too late to do now as I've done the deed! But useful to know anyway.
