You have done amazingly well with your savings and you should be rightly proud of your self!!!

I can't wait to read your story when you get your very own house - you are clearly a very determined and focused person - a real inspiration doing it all on your own with your son!

I hope you feel a bit better - I know the feeling - it took me nearly 3 weeks to get over my lurgy!

Enjoy your holiday - look forward to hearing about your adventures in 2 weeks!

Thanks judi, that's really kind of you.

I am extremely determined and focused however having gotten ill (again) though not seriously but still, only around 60% my usual strength atm, I am thinking - am I doing too much? Is it clever to be working full time, studying cima, looking after my son and our home and car and cooking and cleaning and always being organised and saving for the house and accepting a promotion with bigger responsibilities and taking braces appointments that leave me in agony for a week after and unable to eat? No wonder I'm unwell at times. But I don't know any other way. And what's the alternative? I sometimes think, just slow down. But there's something inside of me and says, you're almost there, keep going, your opportunity is awaiting and you have to get there just on time because like a train, it'll leave without you unless you're ready. But I don't want to make myself ill. It's a balancing act.

Right, kitchen and bathroom gleaming, bed covers changed, laundry done and drying, floors hoovered, rubbish taken out, suitcases packed apart from the stuff that'll in go in last minute - I think we're ready :j

    Time to unwind :)

I fully understand - I'm the same! I just can't help pushing myself - but we do need to be mindful that we are alos only human - and need to look after ourselves (easier said than done I know!)

But you have acoupel of weeks off so see how you feel when you get back - hopefully back to your normal levels of strength and energy!

  • Hello Diary,

we're back. We had the best holiday, weather was perfect and I got to fully unwind and forget about everything for two weeks. Truly rested and feel so happy I've got family that I share so much love with. Will see them all in 4 months again for Christmas.

Back to business though straight away. Spent less than £90 over the two weeks, which is fantastic.
So for end of August I proudly declare my savings at the half way mark of £7,500 :T:T:T
Feels fantastic and like I'm almost there :j success is just around the corner, we can do it.

I'm now knuckling down with loads of work I've come back to and an exam looming too.
Trying not to get stressed and so started doing yoga again today, I'm not a huge active sport fan but my body seems to respond really well to gentle, slower exercises and it shuts up the brain also, somehow :D

Also, tonight whilst trying to come up with new lunch box ideas for my son I baked this gluten free bread, it's absolutely delicious, well worth a try if someone is interested

Right, off to finish my chores for the day and then rest.

    Peaceful Monday,

Glad you had a relaxing and frugal holiday and amazing job with the savings!!!! What and achievement!!! Well done! Great that you are already managing your stress with the yoga - hopefully you will get through the next exam without wearing yourself out!
  • Thanks judi24, had to bring out my yoga books cause I've not done it for so long... :o But it's soooo relaxing, my bones and joints were creaking with joy :rotfl:

Found myself a new assistant (they actually found her for me whilst I was on hols and I'll meet her later but everyone approved), I'm so excited. We'll be looking for another person too, possibly an accountant soon, we need to expand our office with all the growth we're doing.

So that's all good news and sounds very promising.
Situation at work is still very shaky at the best of times but I'm taking it one day at a time, trying not to allow it to overtake my whole life :p And hoping I'll get a prize at the end for all the trying :D
  • Hi there,

I saw your diary yesterday, subscribed and have been working my way through all the posts. I just wanted to write a couple of lines to offer some encouragement towards you reaching your goal. I'm a massive fan of animals generally, and cats specifically (particularly my cat, though I'm not quite as big a fan as he is of himself) which is what 'drew' me in initially, so anyone who wants to give a cat a good home gets my full support!

Really pleased to see the progress you're making, and watching your goals get nearer and nearer. I'm hoping to buy my first house sometime next year and am working towards that. I keep reading posts on here about people's stories of completion day, and it all sounds very exciting- the picking up of the keys from the estate agent, walking in to the house that YOU own for the first time etc! (I've got it all planned in my head already :-)). At the rate you're going it wont be too long before you're doing it for real.

    Keep up the good work!
  • Nice to see you here VAP Driver. Thank you very much for your support. Another cat lover! They're just the best aren't they.
Hope you achieve your dream of owning your own home next year as planned.

Today has been a nice lazy day. I've got some pork slow cooking I'll later serve with mash.
Might pop into a supermarket in a minute just to do a small shop.

I've also sent out all the holiday pics for printing. I really want to thank my mum for having us over and taking us everywhere so I decided I'll buy her favourite box of chocolates - they're really expensive at £30 a box but she spent loads more than that on us! I'll make a parcel of chocs, photos and frames so she can put the photos up straight away. It'll be a great surprise for her :)
  • Also, forgot to mention that I made £50 today MBing so that will cover the pressie to my mum :j So it was kind of free :o;)

I'm off on my holidays next weekend (with the cat- he likes his holidays too). Just remember though- no matter how brilliant you think cats are, it's not even close to how brilliant cats think they are!

Thanks for your kind words about the house. You seem very happy for someone who has just come back from holiday mind. I'm normally really grumpy as my post holiday blues kick in!

I wasn't hungry five minutes ago, by the way. Now, all I really want is slow cooked pork and mash. So thanks for nothing!!!:)

Maybe I need a new job?!
