Thanks so much submarine76
Things did get so bad at work that I considered leaving but I put my trust into the CEO to do the right thing (fast) and thank god he did. They were this close to losing me and they knew it.
The 2-3 months before last Friday had been exhausting.
So on a more positive note I've done a job spec for my assistant and we're officially on the prowlI've never interviewed anyone before so it'll be interesting, looking forward to it.
I'm also still waiting to hear on my final salary which will be this week.
I will then know exactly how much extra money I'll have to throw at my savings. I really hope this will allow us to buy this year. That'd be ideal. I want more space and a garden so much.
Also, my tenancy contract has now finished and I'm on a rolling 30 days contract.
Right, off to bed with my little one.
Relaxing Tuesday everyone

Hello Diary!
Recently I seem to be disappearing for a while and then coming back...
So what's happened in the last few weeks?
Well, I've passed an exam and scheduled another one  Feel so excited about this. And like it's now really coming together.
Eventually agreed on a £12k pay rise which should result in £500 net increase a month. Won't feel it till end of August though.
Don't know how much I've got in savings, will calculate later on.
Off to the cinema now, just wanted to pop in and say Hiiiii :j
Lovely Friday,

So I'm back, we watched Inside Out, it was pretty good.
Looked at finances... Hmm I'm at £6,200 for end of July.
I've not had any unnecessary spends, no impulsive buying. I have made however a few well consider purchases including a new camera, a few clothing items for me and my son.
So that's where we are at then. Will need to try harder for the last 5 months of the year and get as close to the target as possible, the pay rise will help that happen.
Will also need to pass another 3 exams to finish the level I'm at. I'm very positive about that.
Things at work are still unstable. However, it's really got me noticed, in the last 4 months I've built stronger relationships with the CEO and other directors than I had over the previous 3yrs. They've got some great plans for me so as challenging as things are right now I can see there will definitely be a happy ending. We're half way there with my promotion, let's now just get me some resources and we'll be on our way.
Getting a bit sleepy now, it's been a long week with a new course at college, exam, summer term and trying to juggle that with work too. Will get a good weekend's rest and lots of very needed sleep.
Night

Wow 3 posts in two days
go me!
Today I got on with the jobs I've not had time for recently.
I've cleaned out the fridge.
Cleared out the wardrobe and have a bag of outgrown DS's clothes for the charity, so much more room in there now.
Went through a box of paperwork, shredded loads and put the rest neatly in a file so I know where's what.
Sewn up a hole in the lining on my fav handbag and cleared every receipt etc from the purse and the handbag.
Feel so much tidier and organised now and I just love being organised :T:T:T
There is one job that I won't do and that's cleaning out the car so I booked someone to come to my work next week and do it including washing all the seats.
I am such a minimalist, I will not have anything in the house that's not essential and being used, every 6 months or so I'll go through every drawer, cupboard and wardrobe and throw away lots, the most amazing feeling.
If it wasn't for my son I think all I'd have would be a bed, sofa and a laptop  Knick knacks give me cold sweats, the most I'll stretch to is a candle :rotfl: Speaking of candles, DS picked a lovely Yankee candle called Midnight Jasmine, the smell is beautiful. He loves lighting one up in the evening before he goes to sleep and watching the light flicker.
So after all that the only thing left to do today is some studying towards the exam I've got scheduled in 6 weeks. I'll start with writing my notes then move onto practice, there's plenty of work to be done. For my last one I did over 1000 exam practice questions
We're off to the library now to pick up a few new books to read.
Might grab a free Nero coffee on the way  Got a voucher for it.
Sunny Saturday,

Well done on the exam, glad to see things are now coming together for you. Went to the pictures myself last night to see the new terminator film, wasn't bad at all, a lot cheaper than an evening drinking :0)LBM 11 Nov 14 Total Debt £25,013.98 DFD 5 Sep 17 Total Debt £0

Hello submarine76! :j Thank you for coming over and saying hi.
How was the film? I'm thinking of going to watch it too.
I love going to the cinema with my DS, especially since I get student prices and we never buy any food or drinks there it never costs more than £10 a time.
And I can't even begin to think how much I've saved not having had a drink in the last 2.5? yrs. If I spent £100 a month for 2.5yrs that would have cost me £3,000.00. And let's be honest, most people spend a lot more than £100 a month on going out and buying alcohol.
So we're off on our summer hols in two weeks, we're going to see our family. Was going to buy some Euros but then found an article here on the Halifax CC for abroad that charges no fees whatsoever and gives near perfect exchange rate and I applied for it and been approved, coming this week. MSE power! :T Much prefer card to cash. Of course, I set up DD for the full amount and will only buy what we really need, it'll be 90% food.
Last night I bought a kindle version of The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, it's about 2008 economic crisis, can't wait to have a read tonight.0 -
Hello- nice to see you back! You are doing great with the studies and work and you've got a summer holiday to look forward to! Fantastic!!!
The numbers you quote in relation to going out are interesting and has definitely given me food for thought! I don't go out that often these days but I do buy wine to have at home - might have a think about cutting that out!!!
Do you think you will make your savings target? I bet you are itching to start looking for your house!!0 -
Hi judi! :j
I think I'll come closeWill do my best, that's for sure.
Work got in the way a bit but then made up for it with the pay rise so it's all good.
I started looking at houses earlier in the year but left it for a bit now. Got so much more at hand to concentrate on.
Studies is a major one, I've been promised another promotion once I qualify (next August) so it's paramount I keep passing exams.
We'll get there  And have fun on the way too.
It's interesting to contemplate on the fact that when I was writing out the plan for 2015 there's so much I didn't see coming, life is full of surprises0 -
The film was pretty good, better than I had expected. Thinking about going to see Ted 2 or Ant Man at the weekend, the pictures are cheap as chips where I am, as well making the most of it :0).LBM 11 Nov 14 Total Debt £25,013.98 DFD 5 Sep 17 Total Debt £0
