Vodafone - Transfer mobile number

VODAFONE RIP OFF
I am leaving my current employer and have recently requested to have a PAC? code from Vodafone so I can take my mobile phone number to my next employer. My new employer is also on the Vodafone network.
Firstly I was told that I need to take over the contract, when I stated that my new employer was also on a Vodafone corporate contract, I was then told I would have to pay £392 yes nearly four hundred pounds!! to transfer the mobile number.
I have had employers with mobile contracts with O2 and Orange and NEVER have had to pay to transfer my mobile number.
