I wonder if EON owes me money.

5 years on EON made a crucial mistake. They gave me my old meter reading for July 2009 in official letter format. I also have my meter reading from NPOWER for November 2011 in official letter format.

All I need now is the standard tariff for July 2009 to November 2011.

But let us just do a quick guess here.

16822 units in 28 months at 10p a Kwh and 30p standing charge.....
As already stated, you appear from those figures to have used a huge amount of electricity for someone without electric heating. Also, as you had E7, you should have had "day" and "night" readings. If you were using most of that electricity during the day, you would have been paying a much higher rate for it.

Look at your more recent bills and see what your typical monthly usage of electricity is. If you are no longer on E7 then clearly you'll only have one figure, but with separate heating, you should find that electricity usage doesn't change much over the year, especially if you have energy efficient lighting.

i just need to find the tariff info. thats all. if eon won't budge i'll just see if the ombudsman will get the info off them. you know how these companies are like. if theyve shafted you they'll keep it quiet until you use your legal rights and then they collapse and go okay your right we do owe you a refund :p

With all due respect, your attitude is completely wrong. Many people have already stated what could be wrong with your calculations, and you have made up your mind already that EON must be wrong before taking any of it on board.

I was a former employee of an energy provider and can assure you that this is the most transparent industry out there (and believe me, I know, as I used to work for a major technology company where cover ups was the company motto). So anything on your account you are entitled to know, such as billing, payments and tariffs, either present or historic. If there was an error, why not let them try and put it right first?

It is people like yourself that make people not want to do the job of answering the phones to sort out these issues, and certainly why I left the industry. And why am I telling you this? Because I bet you'd be the first to complain about the hold times getting through. You can't expect people to want to be there to answer your call when you come on all guns blazing before even knowing for certain you are correct. That's why the big 6, to quote something I got quite a lot in my day, "can't get the staff".

How about this, go and get your historic tariff details from EON, get your start and end date, the units used (day, night and tiered amounts if applicable), and any payments made by you. EON will provide this information to you, and believe it or not you don't even have to "use your legal rights" either!!

Once you have this, post it on here. We can break it down for you, and if necessary, explain the next steps if your bill was in fact incorrect.

Remember, the Ombudsman does not take on cases where you speculate that there could be an issue, like guessing the tariff prices.
