Fire Exits

  • A local social club has a fire exit in a function room at one end of the club, it has normal handles and requires manually unlocking. It only gets unlocked when there is something going on in the function room, the secretary of the club says the fire service have already checked and that they are allowed to leave it locked.

Only thing is I still don't think it is right because the ladies toilets are also at this end of the club and the nearest fire exit from the toilets is the exit in the function room.

When I asked about this I got told they are only required to have so many fire exits unlocked depending how many people are in the club at any given time. Apparently this is what the fire service said.

Is this all true? I have my doubts and maybe the exit was indeed unlocked on their last visit.

After finding another establishment I'd return and talk to him, say "first - (pointing to his pathetic little sign) that was not me" and go on to explain why I will not be returning here and that I will be advising all myd friends to stay away too.

In fact I'd say it very loudly in a packed room to give others the hit too.

Having so little regard to the safety of his clientele shows him to be a greedy scumbag who only cares about money and not his customers.
  • I'd go in and order plenty of tap water. Drink some, and keep the rest to hand as an emergency extinguisher!

The OP already has found another establishment - almost a year ago. :)

I doubt the letter will still be there.

I have stopped going in that pub:o However had a call from friend who uses it, he has been given a warning after another visit and told to make improvements or will be closed down. It remains to be seen if he does though.
