Credit cards with/without mortgage

Hi All,

I would consider myself and my wife to have at least a good credit score and we have never had any issues with anything more than just a forgotten payment.

We are just in the process of buying our first house and I wondered how is the mortgage going to affect our options for the future with new cards (I have a couple that I would like to do a balance transfer etc).

What are your experiences?
I guess there is no hard set rule for this, but some info would be great.

Thanks!

Once you've moved house you might find it hard to get credit for a few months, they don't like people who have just moved and you won't be on the electoral roll yet.
However in the long term it will make your more credit worthy. Someone who has a house to lose is less likely to declare bankruptcy etc

Exactly the above. I've been offered much higher credit limits since I got my mortgage.

I think they get extra assurance you're not going to just move and disappear the way you can when you're renting, as a purchased address is more fixed.
