Thinking about getting an Xbox one but not until after Christmas.

Is they likely to be better deals in January or will the price go up again ?

I am in no rush, I could maybe even wait until summer.

I agree with the comment of checking with the parents of his friends, the only reason that I can imagine updating to a One would be to enable the multiplayer features. You don't say how old your son is but there are so many games available for the 360, there is no reason that a child will be short of "new to them" games at the moment.

@szam - we have a similar setup. Both our Xbox Ones are in the same room so we can both do whatever we want without all the hassle of fighting over the 'main TV room'. We have a few rules about what voice commands we are allowed to use though as both consoles respond to everything which can be annoying at times! (Xbox Record That is fine, Xbox Go To TV really isn't!)

Just wondered if you were aware there is a setting now that the Xbox One can boot to TV if that is what you use one of the consoles for most? We have found it quite useful for the one we usually watch TV on (say "Xbox On", console and TV switch on, TV plays immediately).

I appear to have missed this reply.

I didn't get the second console on Kinect, it's hooked up to the same Monitor my PC is, so the visuals are really sharp.

The missus has the big TV, I'm fine at my desk, only issue is having to wear headphones all the time - forked out a lot for a decent pair as I'd be wearing them a lot.

Basically the Kinect felt like it'd be useless on the second console, and so far it would be pretty accurate, if my desk was bigger and I streamed more, I'd consider it.
