Thanks for that - very useful to know. My Amazon usage sounds similar to yours, so had discounted Prime as an unnecessary expense, though money off Kindle books and music would give it greater value to me.

So while I am using Prime on trial, why did my £10 order not get a £1 discount when I selected standard delivery ?

If you're on the trial period, I guess that means you haven't paid for it yet?

If yes, I'll leave you to work out why you didn't get the Kindle discount.
