  • I've unpacked my mug and come to join you again if that's ok! In the process of packing everything up at my parents' ready to move in with OH...it's imminent now with dates being suggested that are less than 3 weeks away!!

So although I'm hoping most Christmas shopping will be done by Sunday, I can't really anticipate that December will be a saving month! But I'm going to aim for 7 NSDS and be thrilled if I exceed that! We're FTBs so lots of things we need to set up house (not wanting to order things until we've got a date as not really anywhere to store them!
    NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

  • Life is hectic just now.I'll try and sign you all up tomorrow -Wednesday.

I'm thrilled that so many of you like the tropical holibobs theme. :)

Meanwhile,Igor has just rustled up a big vat of mai tais, under my supervision - who's game? :j
  • :hello:

Thanks for the new thread Marmite, and what a wonderful idea a lovely sunny feel with no mention of a festivity that involves snow and stuff :D (See how I worded that Nargle ;))

Is Nargle going to be 'C' word monitor? Maybe we could have some sort of prize for best 'replacement'. Or maybe Igor could come up with some special concoction to celebrate it with.

I've got an extra day in London next month and will be going up to mum's twice; once to help her prepare for snowy festivity thingummy and then again for the actual event but really do need to keep spending to a minimum as I'll need a bit put by for January as I won't have any overtime in December so please could I go for 18 again?

Need to dash, see everyone back in the November thread tomorrow.

    :hello:

Errrm I'm not sure; number one what is it and (maybe more importantly) number two what does Igor's version of whatever it is contain?

    Cunning,very cunning kathy ;)
Wo-ho! We're goin' to Barbados deedly-doo! Singgg darn you!
Just luuurve de tropical holiday ting goin on here man, any ting to stop us freezing our wotsits.....Igor! Pass de rum punch here, de Nargle is in holeeday mood now!

What an inspired suggestion from our great leader marmite - now can I suggest something? You know how dire punishments are inflicted on those who use the word "fail?" (No, marmite, I am protected by those inverted commas, so put Shawn back in his cage please, before Igor gets out his recipe for shark fin soup). Well,as we are escaping from all the seasonal malarkey and going on our tropical holibobs, let's impose a punishment on all those who say the word "Christmas" on this December thread! That will be a challenge for us, but we could still discuss seasonal matters and find all sorts of inventive ways to do it without that C word. Marmite, could you sort out a prize for the best alternative word used by an NSD gang member? Just to add a bit more fun and lunacy to the challenge.

I will aim for another 16 this month - I won't have chance to spend if I am lying on a tropical beach having coconut oil rubbed in all over by sun tanned chaps wearing palm leaf loincloths....oh Hubert! This nice young man has some palm leaf salad for you to nibble on.....(Down Nargle! Control yourself!)

Well Nargle, who shall be the word monitor? What shall the prize be for best substitute word?Oh sorry,I didn't mean to disturb you in the middle of a lovely massage. :rotfl::rotfl:
ou do know that it's Igor giving you the massage though....:(

Marmite I am happy to be the c word monitor and will be looking forward to seeing how people discuss it without discussing it!

Right-o gang! On December 1st the word "Christmas" will become totally forbidden/interdit/verboten. You may discuss your Christmas plans and preps but you must not use that word. Anyone who does will be invited to a swimming pool party with Shawn the Shark.
Put your thinking caps on and find an interesting alternative word or phrase ( and Xmas doesn't count!) - the wittier or weirder the better!

This is all so we can keep in the tropical holiday mood for the thread - after all, we have our off-the-wall reputation to keep up!

How about 'A Winter's Celebration of Consumerism Gone Mad,Too Much Food and Much Cheeriness,Whether Sincere or Not.'
AKA 'AWCCMTMFMCWSN' -now that's not difficult to spell or say,is it?! :rotfl::rotfl:
