What a palaver. I had a nice flat glass one at first till it got a big crack in it somehow. Got a bit afraid of using it with it being electric and all so went out and bough a cheaper and by the look of it inferior one.
I don't like wasting money on hobs etc lol and I didn t at the time want another like I had in case the same thing happened again. The one I bought i s a white metal one with 4 raised plates on it. It takes ages to heat up and then ages to cool down again so we have to keep a pan of cold water on it which soon heats up while we wait for it to cool down,
Anyway I was under the impression my contract was with Homebase not some other company who supplied Homebase with the product in the first place. So was expecting a resolution with them. It goes on and on and even the woman I was dealing with felt my pain lol. The latest is after spending an hour at the store there today I have emailed one of the top men who this lady mentioned and see what he says.
Was due to have a guy come tomorrow to repair it but he s been cancelled as I don't want a repair or even a replacement. If I don't get my money back them so be it but would be nice if I do or even put towards a better one. I know one thing I won't be buying much from Homebase in the future. We are only talking of about £90 not a fortune to them but still quite a bit to me.:o
Your contract is with Homebase as the seller so don't let them fob you off with any 'your contract is with the manufacturer' rubbish. Under the Sale of Goods act your contract is with them. The Sale of Goods Act takes precedence over any manufacturers warranty or guarantee.
Other than that, I know nothing about hobs and how fast they should heat up and cool down. But as it's now actually broken, they should resolve it. They will probably keep insisting on a repair. All you can do is what you've already done and go higher to push for a refund0 -
Cheeky As just gave me a bigger beef at the bigger price!! Not subbed just price changed
And subbed 4 of my udis with Apple udis. Took them all. Decided I'll do my rip!0 -

Why don't you let them fix it but say to them that if you are still having problems then that is the final chance. Also, if you let them fix it then nag the engineer enough when he is there then he may be able to say it is unfixable. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

To be honest i think that's how they should do it (give a piece that's nearly right up or down) because getting exact amounts would be virtually impossible on a regular basis. The way it's happened for some is just mental.0 -

Thanks Fairclaire that's what I have done. Will let you all know what happens. Thing is it's not an item you can just put in your car and take back and complain there and then is it and once it's out I have no way of cooking certain things. The heating up and cooling down was just an aside the main thing is one rings gone and how long will the others last who knows.0 -
