I was going to say the same aau, also the homeless shelters are very specific about what they do and don't need and supply lists, I doubt they'd have the storage capacity to accept frozen food
Great idea tho, and good to keep thinking of ways we can help, I do always spare many a thought for homeless at winter particularly, tho confess I do very little other than a Samaritans donation - sorry I meant sally army, not samaritans (damn baby brain)Final cigarette smoked 02/01/18

You are so right about it being fantastic:TI started the
widowed group 10 years ago with a friend after losing my DH and being happily married for 35years.It is a such a life change when this happens and your life changes dramatically.Having the group has been a lifeline to so many of us and enabled us to do things we would possibly not do on our own .I have a loving supportive family but they have there own lives to live and I know it made them happy to know Nannylala could be independant with a knew group of like minded friends .
Love this Nanny. It must to be so very hard to find yourself alone after having a partner for so long. So very easy for people to get lost and lonely in those circumstances. And hard to have the grit to carry on sometimes I guess. Well done you for having a half full glass :beer:0 -

I have had a ruthless make up/toiletry clear out last week
I split it in 2 and donated half to DS2 old primary school because they are just fab! and I like to hope they will help more kids the way they helped him
The other half went to a women's refuge. Women often leave home with nothing but what they're stood up in so hopefully a few nice toiletries and a bit of make up will go towards confidence to get them back on their feet. I know I feel like carp when I haven't got my face on
I'll be honest it made me feel better. I've purged myself of mountains of stuff I won't live long enough to use

You can donate to children in need via living social, which is a Quidco xmas event retailer. :T:T:T#CHEEKY :cool:0 -

If you do a CC/HD though it will pick up the 6 for £3, 10 for £4... if that is running in the picking store, I am assuming this promotion hasn't ended yet.
It's actually a benefit as the APG super computer won't know you got the multibuy at all.#CHEEKY :cool:0 -

Isn't it nice to be in a position to help others? You never know when it could be you or those you love in need of a helping hand.
I know myself and many others here have great stashes and the ability to get a little something for nothing. The food banks can't take frozen stuff or anything that needs refrigerating and that's a shame (they would be full of pizzas).
What will everyone give this year? I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around and love to do a good turn when I can.
In my food bank box there will be udis, lots of peas/spaghetti/tomatoes/noodles/carrots fillers, baby food jars, pasta and prawn crackers. :T0 -

This is great, although I must admit I don't donate to these big events much. My sons nursery did children in need events that cost 3.00 but given a choice I like to walk up to someone or something local and give them my money or things. I worry that despite good intentions on the givers part the people it's meant for don't always see it. Hope they do though
