Is NODDLE a con ?

Options
I am thinking of checking my credit report - using Noddle but they require me to add my credit/debit card details - before I can use their "free" service - why should I do this - and what is the real reason ?
I don't trust them...
There must be people without payment cards - what do they do ?

They need this so they can check your identity.

    They are a trustworthy company.

People without credit and debit cards sometimes do have difficulty checking their credit reports.

As has been said, it's just to check your identity. Almost every MSE regular uses it, it's completely safe. Just don't sign up to their "Improve" service, it's a waste of money.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

I can't see how they might have difficulties? You can obtain your £2 statutory reports from all 3 agencies by post, paying by postal order/cheque.

They can request the statutory credit report for £2.

They use your card details to verify your address you entered on Noddle

Any info YOU provide adds to their data held. As this is very much the least used CRA, spend your £2 elsewhere.

I'm not sure that's the case these days. For example, I currently have 23 current accounts, 8 credit cards, and a mortgage...and Noddle (CallCredit) lists all of them.

I'd need to double check but I don't think they list my VirginMedia (home broadband only) account which was showing with Experian last time I chucked £2 at them.

Would say the same as above, noddle has all of my current accounts apart from one of my bank accounts. However, that bank account is not on any credit report so they are, in my experience, as up-to-date as any.
