i do still have the manual, but the router looks like a selaed unit and i cant see any button on it

Most don't, in fact I've never personally seen one that does, certainly not any netgear routers anyway. The settings are changed through your browser.

In the router's settings. Your manual should tell you how to access them. It will be something similar to typing 192.168.0.1 into the browser.

ok i went into my NETGEAR Router Web-based Configurator and clicked 'disable' in the wireless settings, security options. Now assuming that this didnt disable the internet as a whole, i tried logging on with my laptop but it said in the 'wireless network connection box' but that it was not connected and it wouldnt connect.

This also happened on my desktop, so i think i have done it wrong.

I changed the settings and was able to log on again

I also still have the problem of not knowing how to turn off mac filtering

Did you click Apply to save the changes? It's all explained in the link in post #13.

ok i went through the sky setup page as above, and added my laptop and desktop to the wireless station access list but, my desktop will connect as per normal but my laptop wont.

I am going to try what you recommended earlier and turn off the wirless encryption thus seeing whther my laptap can connect then. Can you advise me how to do this?

  • However I can’t connect mine or my partners laptop to sky via wirless, although i can via a cable, I can’t even connect my Nokia N95, it seems it will only let 1 connect to the wireless at any one time. Can anyone help??? I am at my wits end

I have a Nokia N95 & read somewhere that you can only connect to a wireless network that's using WEP encryption despite what it says in the Nokia manual. I even upgraded the N95 firmware & still couldn't connect to my wireless Netgear router which uses WPA.

    Hope this helps.

Have you tried phoning Sky technical assistance?
