Refund from furnitureuk.co.uk

If you paid by credit card then you want to be making a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. The credit card company owe you a full refund, and this is not dependent on the seller collecting the goods. The credit provider is jointly and severaly liable for the contract, so you can claim anything from them that you can claim from the seller.0

Hello,
I received a reply to my email saying a cheque was posted no date when sent, and that I should receive it shortly, I just know if I do receive it (highly unlikely) that it will bounce, and for some reason their only reply to emails on weekends. Must be the only time their go in.0 -
Hi,
I posted on the Furniture UK (status) thread... I paid £ 159.99 for a chest of drawers that was described as "golden.. lacquered pine", but arrived as a dark grey-stained non-lacquered chest - a marked difference from the advertised photo. Plus the wooden joints had cracks & there were splinters etc.
At first they seemed like they would refund and asked me for photos, which I emailed & posted. Then there was no response whatsoever for 2 weeks.
But I was mega-annoyed about this and researched what I could on the firm plus I've collated a list of 63 complaints (and rising!) from review sites. I reported to AdviceGuide who said they'd inform Trading Standards. I contacted ActionFraud (maybe they'll be interested ?). And BBC Watchdog, Guardian Consumer Champions & Daily Mail thisismoney; - it would help them to investigate if more people email them....
And my credit card company. Plus I wrote a livid letter to the Manufacturer in Scotland. He actually emailed me and apologised, but of course my contract is with the retailer.
After all this, Furniture UK decided to email me denying receiving the photos I'd sent. Anyway, after me emailing again they agreed verbally to accept a return for a refund. But... yesterday the Courier didn't show up to collect (surprise surprise )
According to these reviews, Furnitureuk.co.uk send bouncing cheque refunds, fail to reply to communications, fob people off, give false delivery dates..... I'm really concerned . I'd advise people to report them to the media - it increases the chance of investigation...
But please avoid confusion, it's not a firm in Essex: I phoned "Joanne" in their customer services yesterday... The 0800 phone number on furnitureuk.co.uk didn't work, but TRADE PRICE FURNITURE (also of Unit 5, Pennington Close. W. Bromwich) - with a separate website - had a number, 0345 557 7930 - and it was answered "Hallo, Joanne speaking" (who had emailed me from Furniture UK). Today, weirdly, they've changed numbers - now the 0800 number's replaced by 0121 ... (Trade Price) and FurnitureUK has got the 0345 number !
FurnitureUK.co.uk, at this address is not a Ltd company, but shares the same address as Trade Price Furniture Ltd (directors M. Faisal & T. Mugadzaweta) whose website gives an address, Unit 5 Pennington Close, West Bromwich B70 8BA. (Although in the small print of the T.P. Furniture website it says B70 8BG - really fishy)
And my credit card statement gives the postcode WV14 7HZ, (as you mentioned Hollydays) which is also linked to those directors above if you google. Hollydays, you reckon it might be their warehouse. Maybe, or an older address ? They are linked to TMF logistics which is also at Pennington Close B70, and some customers said that FurnitureUK used TMF.
Anyway excuse the long post ! I'd be grateful for advice too. My credit card said they'd pursue a "chargeback" to recover funds, but then told me to return the goods if requested. Would it weaken my chances of a full refund if Furn.UK offer me some lesser settlement ?
Hi- just to answer a few of your points. If you read all my links you will see furnitureuk Is A limited company bevcause its trading name is retailed ltd.see my post number 10.
Wv14 definitely is their warehouse - bilston Wolverhampton -and I would say this is where they are running most of it from , as I have also an actual link where they say this and say that they are hoping to open a shop within it within 3 months- I'll try to find the link.read all my posts and it will be clear.
I'd just go with the chargeback as already said ,as this company obviously has a big cash flow problem.it looks like they have set up the other company headed by tmf directors( I see on this one their t & cs are more legal)! so I suspect they might be about to go in liquidation / be dissolved with this one then just use that company to follow on where they left off, albeit with temporarily different director?0 -
"Furniture UK stock the furniture you see online in our Midlands warehouse, which is why you won’t have to worry about deliveries that take weeks to appear; in fact, Furniture UK deliver within 5 to 10 working days any item of furniture that is in stock. Your delivery date within this range will depend on the size of the item being delivered, and with either 1 or 2 man deliveries (again depending on the size of the item) you need not worry about struggling with your item up those steep stairs. Furniture UK always calls in advance to ensure the best time and date to deliver; they fit around your schedule and availability, to provide the most convenient delivery to you."
From their website.. I have see them specify Wolverhampton elsewhere which obviously is the Midlands. I've also seen a reference that if you buy you can collect from the bilston warehouse " by appointment"0 -
Thanks for the info and advice, frugal_mike & hollydays. Yes, I will go with the chargeback (it will take time, but as you say, they are liable. )
Sorry I didn't read all your links before, I have now, and yes I see that they are a trading name for Retailed Ltd. I'd like to know who the real person running the company is. They don't make it easy to find out ! (I may contact Taylor the accountant as you suggest...)
Tiswas, if you get a chance to, report it to BBC Watchdog - it only took me a few minutes. If there are enough complaints they might investigate..

The accountant / book keeper( I don't know if he is a qualified accountant so I use the term loosely)is listed as the director, so presumably he is classed as running the company? I'm sure someone will correct me if this is not right.
I suspect some changes are afoot as it looks like they submitted their accounts early, in September ..0 -
I am still waiting for my order placed on the 19th August. At first I had to chase a double charge and got refunded over a month later. And now I am chasing my furniture order. I will proceed further and maybe involved watchdog if no result by next week. The other comments just highlight what sort of company this is. It makes me laugh that they advertise Best customer a Service and Fast delivery, they need to be stopped!!0

Hi guys,
I have the same problem as many here... never received my furniture ordered months ago, customer service no answering etc.
I've done my homework and confirm that FurnitureUk.co.uk is run by a company called RETAILED LTD.
Their OFFICIAL information as registered by companycheck can be seen here:
(it won't let me post a link, copy this to your browser:) companycheck.co.uk/company/08321066
As you can see as of December last year, the company owed £39,285 and only had £27,545 in assets: so they were already well in debt.
From the way they have been acting (not delivering furniture, not paying suppliers, no answering calls) it seems obvious that their situation has worsened since last year. I'm guessing they are bankrupt and closing the company already.
The best course of action for everybody is to CONTACT YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY and explain what is happening, and ask for an immediate refund. The credit card company will take it from there.
There is no point taking these guys to court if they have no money!!! :mad:0 -
