  • Does anybody ever do the tasks in foreign language with an online translator? There's a task in Dutch :

There was another job late last night on Neo that looked very dodgy, but has since gone, so I don't know the number.

It was a website evaluation for 44c.

The first line of the job description was 'There is a problem with the security certificate on my website at the moment, so if you aren't prepared to click past it then you can't do the job'

It was a site offering waste pick up.

If you clicked through, you were then asked to set up an account, including payment details, and to apply for the service.

You then had to go back to Neo and fill in the questionnaire about your experience with the site.

Needless to say, I didn't do it. It could've been genuine, but somehow I don't think so.

This one was okay, so far as I can tell. It was an interesting concept where people posted up a rubbish clearing job and people bid for taking it on. The banks details were already in by default (i.e. not personal details). The slight drawback was that I did get a joining confirmation e-mail but saw this as part of the test.

I can understand why you had second thoughts though.

The other one (View IMAGE) is definitely a scam though, I wrote again to CF saying that they need to get it off the task list pretty sharp'ish all I got was an auto patronising reply saying that lodging more than one ticket causes delay. Possibly right, but in this case one would think that it in in everyone's interests to take the task down.

There seem to be no way of pushing anything up the CF priority list. I would have thought that this was an occasion when they'd want to act speedily - it seems I'm wrong. There is something odd about the task though because on occasions it gets a positive star rating.

Crowdflower bookmarklet - this is driving me up the wall as I keep getting an error message saying that I haven't accessed the task through the proper route when I have! The 'support' thing wants a screenshot which I can't get cos I'm not in the task any more.

I use windows 8...can anyone tell me what it means to access the browser in desktop mode? I went to the tiled page & tried Explorer from the tile, started all over again from there & got the same message.

Thank you v much to anyone who can help.

I lodged a ticket on the subject an age ago and got the following response that helped me solve. Sometime the odd one doesn't work at all but I can now complete most of them although you do need to restart sometimes. I follow the same process with the bookmarklet, it's just a case of persevering/trial and error and you will get there.

    CF Response to Ticket

There are a few things you can try in order to get the CrowdFlower Extension to initiate the timer and verify your website visit.

First of all, make sure you do not have an ad blocker software running. Other browser apps can also interfere with the CrowdFlower Extension so you might need to temporarily disable them. Do not click on anything else while performing the job. When typing in the search term on Google, make sure you type each letter and do not click on the autofill suggestion and do not copy and paste the search term. Also, do not skip search pages, even if you know the result is on a larger page number.

To find out if the job is working properly, you can click on the extension’s icon and select “Check current task status”. Try restarting the job if you receive “Unknown verifier specified”. If you are able to get the timer to appear, check the status again when the timer is counting down and when it has finished. You might need to click on another tab on the website. Clearing the search term and the website from your browser’s history can also help.

If you are unable to successfully complete the job, click on the extension’s icon and check to see if there’s a status message that can tell you what’s wrong. If you have reached a point where nothing more can be done, select “Report a problem”, type a brief explanation of your issue and include the last status message to receive a Bug Report number. Reporting issues will help us refine the extension tool. Please include the Bug Report number in your ticket and details about your issue.

    My Reply

I am just writing to thank you. I did try the dis-enabling other extensions first but this wasn’t any good.

I got it working but don’t really know how although following through what you said. I checked the status at every step, when it reported a problem, I went back a step a tried again. I did this a few times at various steps and it worked perfectly in the end. As I use it more and more I should be able to nail down the problem so it doesn’t happen at all.

Anyway, I wanted to acknowledge your advice that prompted me to persevere.

Yeah, they were like that for me most of yesterday but have then behaved ok since late Saturday evening. Sorry you're still having issues. Think the TokenAd videos have been a bit funny all weekend.

You don't want to open it from the tiles, you want to open it on the desktop (the older more traditional style part of your laptop).

Hope you can sort it :) Also, nice to see so many people helping here these days.
