Washing Machine troubles, catalogue

I'm going to make this as short as possible, as it's giving me a headache today. It's a very long story, but I can't tell it again, not the way I have been. Here goes;
In February, we purchased a washer for 420 quid, from my Gf's catalogue, In the second week, it stopped half way through a wash and took a few goes at resetting. We reported to the catalogue and were told to go to the manufacturer for a repair. This fault went on for a while, intermittently. Twice we arranged a repair, twice it worked again.
2 Weeks ago (9 months after purchase), the same washer came up with an error. We again rang the manufacturer, resulting in lots of pressure from CS to buy an extended warranty, which my partner did and I eventually complained, after a wait and a failed repair. Short version, the manufacturer arranged pickup via the catalogue and the catalogue refunded the next day, before pickup. (The washer is due to be collected Monday).
We ordered a new washer immediately after the refund, which came this AM. removed transport brackets, fitted dust caps, emptied drum of bits/pieces and plumbed in. All good. We ran a 30 min, 30 degree wash and it went fine, clothes lovely. Hooray....NOT.
Started a second wash, 40 degree, 45 min wash. Pat way through (almost finished, but not quite spun) the electricity goes off! I go to the kitchen after trying to reset the rcd, and find a smell like, burning rubber/plastic. My partner rang the catalogue who said, "call the manufacturer". I wasn't having that, as it has taken a long time and a lot of calls to sort the last one out, which is still sat in the living room. So, she puts me on. I complain that we didn't buy it off the manufacturer, we bought from them. The guy says, because they didn't fit it, I did, they will collect and inspect, then threatens that if they don't find a fault, we will be liable. I am really angry now, it did ONE wash! It's clearly not fit for purpose, now they're suggesting we may be responsible. And to top it off, he says it needs to be PACKAGED to return!? Really? The packaging is in the wheelie bin! I have had to remove the largest parts of polystyrene etc and wrap it in cling film and we now have 2 washers, both broken in our living room, as well as being told we have no right to a refund! What else can I do? Please?

You should calm down a bit and edit that wall of text until it's more easily readable.0

So the second washer was bought new, and is not a replacement did the old one? If so you are entitled to reject it for a full refund if its inherently faulty. The seller is entitled to inspect it to check that it is indeed inherently faulty, but if they want to refuse a remedy they need to prove there is no inherent fault.
Next time you probably want to buy the washer elsewhere. And you may want go add a TL.DR section to the end of your text.0 -

Mike, technically it was a second purchase. They refunded because the manufacturer authorised an uplift and refunded them. We ordered a new one because we had paid over 300 off it and they didn't guve cash so we couldn't afford any other way.0

I wouldn't say its totally pointless. If people don't reply because they don't want to read it all then you won't get the help you want.0 -

Right, so its a new purchase but made with store credit. You'still entitled to reject the new one for a full refund if it is inherently faulty, but the refund will be in store credit too.0 -

Even though the money was paid off, via the first washer and we made a new purchase? And yes it's pointless. If you don't read, don't reply, simple.0 -

Most of us are only here to help at the end of the day.0
