    Hi everyone

This is a great thread. Please could I join?

Budget for one this month of £40, please! I thought I was pretty savvy with bulk cooking etc, but I can't wait to find ways to be cheaper again! It's all so exciting :D

If I eliminate all chocolate and crisps, I can keep it at £40 I think! .... Or I hope  haha.

I've already spent £36.71. But this is my monthly shop done! (fingers crossed)...

    Hi welcome :T
NO CHOCOLATE OR CRISPS are you mad :rotfl:
Only kidding. I don't know if I could go a whole month without crisps, not so keen on chocolate. I only hope you don't feel that you are depriving yourself too much and give up

Had a very strange week, got really nasty mouth ulcers and couldn't wear my dentures so lived on porridge, yoghurt and soup mainly so
still have all meals planned left. Have decided not to shop at all this week as don't need anything.

Hope you are feeling better. Not a brilliant way to save money :(

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Spent £4.67 today but also used a voucher for 60p off cat food & 50p off sausages plus used up my roadkill in the self service till. I'm pleased that it's under the amount I can spend per day if I want to hit my December budget & it got us tonight's meal of toad in the hole, plus some baby potatoes that I have boiled tonight so they can be sliced for home made chips/wedges to go with tommorows meal.
" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Debt neutral :) 27/03/17 from £40k:eek: in the hole 2012.
    Roadkill 17 £56.58 2016-£62.28 2015- £84.20)

L1dl shop today rounded figure £55 but taking £10 off as it is for a bottle of port, gift to DH, so £45 in reality.

Then trip to sainsbugs as they have napolina olive oil on offer, but got lots of YS stuff, some of which we used for dinner tonight, plus a little treat of frozen strudel and ice cream. Total £18.

Going to update my figures by £63.

Away over the weekend, to see DD, taking some food with us but might treat ourselves to the odd drink out, however not planning to eat out (the cabin is self catering). Back Sunday night. Any money spent on these 2 days is budgeted under family stuff, not coming out of GC, but will be minimised and I have saved cash for it. Except for fuel as I get 3% back on credit card.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

  • Did my weekly food shop at Mr L, total spend was 43.08 but there was a little bit of Christmas shopping in that. Gave myself a bit of a talking-to when tempted to buy stuff I shouldn't. So when I almost bought some smoked salmon for lunch next week, I told myself I could use tuna instead (have tons of it). Also got lots of discounted chicken thighs which is going to be chicken stew for dinner tomorrow :).

More discounted chicken went into a stir-fry this evening with lots of veggies and I have two portions of that in the freezer already.

Did a bit more shopping in Mr S, bought some Christmas goodies to use up a voucher. OH bought the usual Friday evening steaks and paid the butcher for other stuff we'd bought during the week.

Food spend so far in December is £76.30. A rather staggering 47% of that is on meat! This includes cooked meats as well but it still seems very high. I only know this because I have input full details of the food shop into a new budget on YNAB. Hmmm, will see how it goes over the rest of the month. This spend does not include any extra Christmas stuff, which I am recording separately.

It's quite a bit of effort getting full details into YNAB but I think it will really help to highlight where the money is going. Hope to spend very little over the weekend. :)

Welcome everyone and all the new peoples :hello:

So when I almost bought some smoked salmon for lunch next week....

Morry's do a pack of savers smoked salmon slices - enough for two sandwiches with cream cheese or a quiche ;) and at £1.99 much cheaper than a steak :rotfl:

I only know this because I have input full details of the food shop into a new budget on YNAB.

What is YNAB please ?? I just write all mine down on a sheet of paper and add up at the end of the month :)

I managed another NSD but will need some shopping tomorrow - hopefully not much as still de-cluttering the freezers

Today we had hm cheese, onion and potato pie, baked beans and grilled toms and DH had some sausages with his. Just for a change I put a layer of sweet potato in the middle and it was really tasty plus upped the veggies :j

Hope you all have a super Saturday
