Xperia Z3 compact screen issue

Options
I know the earlier Xperias had screen weaknesses, but am I the only one with a screen fault on a Z3 compact?

Upgraded 2 weeks ago - took phone out of pocket (no bangs or bumps) and was greeted with a crack across the screen. So now the phone is "dead".

I will try the Sony Support line - has anyone managed to get a free repair?

  • Thanks Grumbler, but that thread seems to relate to "older" models...

I was curious if anyone with the newer generation of models was having the same issues

Is it the outer protective glass screen that's broken or the digitiser screen that produces the display underneath it?

I've had mine for over a month with no problem...I do have it insured, though, as I don't trust Sony to accept responsibility if the screen suddenly cracks.

The new models are a different design to the old ones. The old ones came with a protective film that easily scratched so ceaseless phones were impossible.

What exactly is the point of the picture?

XDA has threads about the screens of these and the cracking issue, they show pictures of cracks - probably of more use i'd say.

  • I've had my Z3 Compact for about six weeks and haven't had a cracked screen (touch wood!) It has, however, just gone back to Sony for repair as the earphone jack has stopped working!
  • My wife has this phone and the back cracked over night while it was on the bedside cabinet charging. Screens have been known to go this way too. As mentioned, a common problem.
