    thanks

the ddms are shown as 2 separate amounts on 2 separate dates, each for £1,, from Tesco Internet a/c to Santander (ie both a/cs in my name). So this will be OK then ?

Cannot upgrade online with this a/c ("error......"). Can I do in branck ? Or must I ring 0845 3000 000 (or maybe you have a freephone No ?)

    thanks

If you have Vantage on your current account then that'll be why you're getting that message when trying to upgrade. Sorry about that. If you do have Vantage, we'll need to remove that before upgrading the account to Club Lloyds.

If you can call us on 01733 347 007, one of my colleagues will be able to help. It's also possible to make the change in branch if you'd rather do that.

Regarding the Direct Debits, you might be best to check with Tesco on how the Direct Debits work. Specifically, when a Tesco savings account pulls money from another bank account, is the same mandate used each time even if there are multiple debits each month? It's not something I can confirm either way.

Again though, from a Club Lloyds view, if two payments are taken during the month on different dates for different amounts, but they both use the same Direct Debit mandate, that won't satisfy the credit interest criteria.

    Thanks,

    Craig

    Yep
    ...............
  • Hi joe134,

Yes, in the case of a joint account where one party is registered to receive gross interest and the other party isn't, the tax on the interest is halved.

    I hope this helps,

    Craig
    Halved??
Surely not: half the interest would be paid gross with the other half taxed at 20%
eg if the total gross interest was £20 - £10 would be paid gross and then other £10 taxed so net £8 = £18 would be paid??

...and therefore 'the tax on the interest is halved' as stated (£2 tax instead of £4 tax on £20)!

    precisely.
    got several joints that way.bit fiddly, but worth it;
banks always require R85, yet, Post Office allow just a click to alter tax status;?;I then fill R40 every year to reclaim my 10p rate on first £1200=£120.
Did it this year , still waiting, ;;Might have changed it.?
Wife owes them £280 from last year, told them, still waiting to pay that too.earned a one off over tax allowance.
    Might let her off.:rotfl:

    Hi again,

As B_G_B has confirmed, two different Direct Debit mandates to the same recipient (you in this case) each paid once a month meets the credit interest criteria.

    Thanks,

seems like I am OK on the two direct debits then (Tesco current accounts dept confirm these ARE TWO direct debits)
    also
Tesco savings dept tell me that I CANNOT set up direct debits on the Instant access SAVINGS a/c ???
Other people on here tell me I CAN

Can the Rep for Lloyds help on this please.

(I cannot access my Inst Access Saver account as this has been set up under a "different profile" to my other 3 accounts. I must get a new Security Number first)
