in Credit cards
I have Halifax Clarity Card but I also want to issue a US credit card (in USD) like this card ... mainly to use it for purchases and cash withdrawals in the UK or abroad and be charged in USD.
I have good credit in the US, I have a US bank account, I just cannot find online any card that is similar to Halifax Clarity. Do you have any suggestions which card is similar so I could apply for it either online, over the phone or in person?
Thanks!

Americans seem to rave about credit unions - maybe worth investigating0

If you withdraw in UK you get charged in GBP, not USD, and the difference between cards is how much they charge for the conversion.0 -

I'm not going to the States yet so I have no other person to rave about it with, but thanks though.... and by the way my family there knows nothing about these kind of cards (they were surprised to hear a card like Halifax Clarity even exists!) ... I looked online at some cards but couldn't find anything that says 0% fee for purchases and cash withdrawals abroad ... there is one from Citi that gives you 50,000 American Airlines miles when you use it for $3,000... I applied for it and got it approved, but I need to cancel it within the 1st year to avoid $95 annual fee, and I'm not sure yet what to spend the $3,000 on ...
Besides that I couldn't find any other attractive card. Anyone else knows perhaps?0 -

No, I don't think you get it. Let's say I go to Australia, and I want to buy something there or pull out some Aussie dollars from the ATM ... then I want to have the flexibility of choosing of whether to charge my Halifax Clarity card (in GBP) or my US card (in USD), depends on the exchange rates on that given moment etc.
I'm just looking for a US card, from a US financial institution (not a UK one), that doesn't charge you exchange rate fees when you use it abroad (abroad i.e. outside of the US)0 -

I think you are asking in the wrong place as this is a forum for British based products. I doubt many people on here would have any knowledge of the U.S. market........ Well apart from walking down 6th avenue recently sulking because they have better Cashback cards than we do!0 -

Yeah lol ... I'm not familiar with any American forums, what would be the equivalent American forum to this British MoneySavingExpert forum?0 -
We have just used the Halifax Carity card... in Canada and usa..
Most machines ask how you want to pay cd or usd. in respective countrie of course.
only problem we found which was annoying is that when you look online Halifax don't show conversion rate, you have to go and look on different website, unlike Nationwide and other who show this. but got a good rate in canada. rate for usa was between 1.60-62 us to £0 -

anything here?
the first few results appear to refer to US issued cards.0 -

I couldn't find anything yet ... this one looks "okay":

But if you look at the small print, it says they charge you $10 or 3%, whichever is greater on "Cash Advance", which means you would pay that fee if you use the card with any ATM machine.0 -
Found one!!!
:D:D
PenFed Promise Card:
https://penfed.org/Penfed-PromiseCard/
You need to pay $14 one off fee to be a member of some organisation so you can be affiliated with this card, and then another extra $5 must be in the account all the times until you cancel it (so $19 to "buy" this card).
I just have to use a US debit card to pay this $19 fee, I tried using my UK Halifax card and other cards but it didn't go through ... so I have contacted Chase to get a Debit card from them and hopefully once it's sent out I would use it to apply again for this card and let you know if I got approved or not.:D:D
