IPhone 4S - screen repair?

Options
Hi all
I dropped my iPhone 4S and smashed the top of the screen. :(
I'm on SIM only - the phone is not on contract, not insured or under warranty.
Can it be repaired, who by, and how much roughly might it cost?
(I'm too poor/stingy to upgrade). :rotfl:
Thanks
P x

I paid £40 to one of the independent stores on the local High Street.

Ask on facebook, there is bound to be someone else who has had a similar problem.

  • Some branches of Timpsons now do phone repairs including screen replacement for I phones.
Check their website for your nearest store which does phone repairs.

Why don't you phone Apple and ask about costs directly.

Apple are very stringent that once someone has so much as opened your iPhone they don't want to know anymore if you have problems with it.

If something goes wrong down the line, Apple are doing to send you back to the 30 quid repair man off facebook, who is likely going to be very uninterested.
  • £40 seems reasonable for a screen repair, that's what I paid for an Ipad screen replacement when I dropped it. this was from a local independent store.
Forget apple as you can pick up a 2nd hand 4s for around £100- £125 quite easily if you shop around

as stated in the original post: the IPhone 4s is out of warranty, so any help from apple will be expensive help
  • Try and go to a (recommended) repairer, usually you can find someone on FB community pages. I had a problem with my iPhone 4S power button, Apple said it would cost over £120 to repair, a local man I found on FB community page repaired it for £25.

Apple usually do a screen replacement service, last time I checked that was only £80 or so. I know they'll replace an entire 4S for a new one for around the £120 mark.

I've worked in mobile repairs for a while. All too often these facebook repairs cause more trouble than they're worth, sometimes it's not apparent straight away. The problem is when people to go Apple for help they open the phone, see that it wasn't them that repaired it, then tell you that a £350-£900 iPhone is essentially a brick now, have a nice day...
  • These guys will come to your home / office in central London and repair your iPhone 4s screen for £69 - takes 10 minutes once they arrive.

    Worth checking out.
