hi all, I wondered if anyone has had dealings with buying a phone from China, the one I'm looking at is https://www.chinavasion.com/china/wholesale/Android_Phones/6-7_Inch_Android_Phones/Octa_Core_Android_4.4_Phablet_-_7_Inch_HD_1920x1200_WUXGA_LTPS_Display_MTK6592_CPU_2GB_RAM_13MP_Rear_Camera_16GB_ROM_Black/
it seems to be quite powerful, but not knowing much about these things, I wondered if any savy person could shed light on these? oh I do know its very big!0 -
7" screen? Your going to use that as a phone? Big hands and pockets?
The OS is not upgradeable. Maybe a dodgy copy of Android where they have not paid the licence fee.
I would suspect the full spec. Upto and max.. It maybe much slower.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Good luck trying to claim on warranty if it fails!

Warranty is a consideration with Chinese phones - but that aside they are good value and people seem wary with no real reason - most phones are made in China!
I have used xiaomi mi2, Jiayu G4 and now a xiaomi mi3 - all with no problem, i use the miui rom - not the one that comes with it, miui is supported across the world so any malware worries are for me, unfounded.
You pay your money you take your choice - I have no experience of the model or phone you have linked.
I have used merimobiles and ibuygou - both without problem.0 -
Wary with no reason? yet you mention that the warranty maybe an issue.
Is that not reason to be wary? What about the fact the specs maybe fake?
Or the OS may not be legally licenced?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Forgotmyname,I can't tell if your reply is serious to be honest
"Wary with no reason? yet you mention that the warranty maybe an issue."
Sending the phone back is likely involve more effort than going to CPW i admit, but I've never had to send one back
"Is that not reason to be wary? What about the fact the specs maybe fake?"
If you buy from reputable places (like I mentioned) fakes arent an issue
"Or the OS may not be legally licenced?"
What exactly is the "legal"licence for an open source os?
To the OP, just compare the spec of the mi4 with the samsung s5 or iphone 5s - then compare the price.
As i said there are reasons to understand why the phone is cheaper, but dont let the scares tories about Android bugs/fake spec,Chinese spyware etc put you off.
Google xiaomi and or MIUI then once you see Hugo Barra's name (wikipedia him too for good measure)you might see that it's not some evil plot....
If you use MIUI on a genuine xiaomi phone - you'll have a high spec handset at a fraction of the cost of the usual Samsung/iPhone handsets (who are also made in China don't forget)0 -
I'm a Chinese, now many Chinese smartphones are great. The one you like is too big. However, you like it, wish you to get it as soon as.0
