Surely the most sensible thing would have been to contact Sky first of all ?0

Agreed teddys - I have had a few issues with Sky but they have been quick to sort them out. I think the thing that we do not do enough is complain when we receive poor service.0

Many of us shy away from calling up firms to describe this sort of problem, as we fear an engineer will visit and charge hundreds.
I will give BT some credit by saying that their website made me think twice when I wanted to moan about a crackly line last month, and as a consequence of being forced to check my own phone equipment, I realised it wasn't BT's fault at all. We saved the £125 call out charge!0 -
I was about to go over to Plusnet for Phone and Unlimited Fibre, but Sky have just offered me Phone (with evenings & weekends) plus unlimited Fibre for £21.40 pm all in.
I'd already bought Plusnet the other day, but I have to say they were superb when I rang up to cancel within the 14 days with no questions.
Also the chap from Sky was also brilliant, so a good afternoon's work.

Wonder how much money is wasted by customers due to the poor state of their own household telephone wiring??
As an example, a friend was recently ranting and raving on the phone to Sky about his poor internet speeds/reliability -fortunately I persuaded him that we should look at his wiring first before he committed himself to a visit by an "engineer" !!
A quick inspection of his (old) wiring showed that he hadn't got a true master socket -he had 4 extensions wired in a star formation -and one of the extensions passed along an outside wall and was quite obviously damaged - a quick job with a screwdriver disconnected this extension -and hey presto, a much more stable and ultimately quicker, internet connection!Saved him ~ £150 at least -well almost as he bought me a couple of pints!!!0 -
Another story: The outside of my house was rendered and painted white. Yellow mould streaks began to grow upwards on all the north-facing walls, and it looked terrible.
No amount of scrubbing would clear it off. Not soap or abrasive cleaners. I thought I would have to get the walls repainted, and use an anti-mould paint.
After looking at it for months, I tried using a bleach spray meant for bathrooms. The streaks just disappeared! My dad thought I had actually got the walls repainted, they looked so good. Why didn't I think of that to start with?0 -
How on earth are ordinary punters supposed to know about Dual Band 2.4GHz and 5GHz?
Everyone should have a CAT6 Ethernet cable handy.
At least that will help you to isolate the problem down to the Wi-Fi.0
