    They can, completing offers means the company running the system gets money, they usually work in the form of sign up and complete an offer, get a load of people to sign up and complete an offer and get a free something. I don't know if this one is real, I would have thought not if it's just been sent as spam email.

    I may get in trouble for posting this (I haven't read the forum rules...who has?) but http://www.consolegenie.co.uk/ is one example of a site using this system, I have signed up and if you were to add ?r=2856 after the last / of the address then that would be "my" link (me being the referrer). I haven't managed to get enough people to sign up and complete an offer to get a free console, but I have found that creating a list of products on amazon.co.uk (the type that you see a link to such as "top Xbox games" or "My favourite dvds") and include the link in the list with a description of what it is then that is free advertising and gets a few sign ups, but no offers completed in my case.
