used car - had 3 days noticed dent in bumper
Hi, just after some advice please. I bought a used car on Saturday (18 months old) from a Ford main dealer.
I noticed today a slight scuff on the bumper and 2 small dents.
What I want to know is, is this my own bad luck and I should have noticed at point of sale, or can I ask the garage to fix free of charge or as a goodwill gesture?
Thank you!

There's nothing stopping you taking it back to see if they'll sort it. It's probably a short stint in their in-house bodyshop. You might get refused if they think you've caused the damage in the 3 days you've had it though.0

You can ask them and they may well do it as a gesture of goodwill but wont be obliged to.0

If they still have the car advertised on their website or autotrader, I would have a look at the photos and see if you can spot the dents and scuff on the photos. If you can, save the photos and print them off/take them with you to prove you didn't do the damage.
However, their response might well be that you had the opportunity to inspect the car before you paid for it, so it's not their fault that you didn't see the flaws.
My wife bought a 59 reg C4 Picasso a few weeks ago and when we got it home, noticed a lot of scratches on the doors that we hadn't noticed whilst at the garage. It's our tuff luck really and luckily, they'll probably polish out, but we should have looked at the car more carefully.0 -
Is this for a college project ?I do Contracts, all day every day.0

oh!!! It's nothing major just a scuff and two small dents. Phone rubbish,so would take ages to upload pics. Just wanted to know my rights really and the answers I have received confirm what I already thought.
Thank you0 -
From their point of view, the scuffs and dent could have happened in the three days you have owned it.0

I'm not sure your ''rights'' come in to it OP unless you can prove the scuff was there when you collected it0

It could be argued the vehicle was parked on the forecourt as apposed to the showroom and that rain hid the scuffs and only today there has been a dry day and you spotted them.
some dealers would refuse some dealers would take the hit and get in house body shop or a contracted mobile paint repair to do the work as goodwill.
youll only find out if ask!0
