You can open a new one when the old one finishes.
But that's just for new money. You can't get 6% on the money that was in the first one once it has finished.
So once it's finished I assume the money goes into one of your other FD accounts (E-saver?).
If so couldn't you just open another regular saver, transfer the money from e-saver to 1st ac, then proceed with another year?

Yes, you can, but the money won't earn any interest whilst it's in the 1st account.

Hi, Just on this - I called to say I was moving banks and had started the switching process. The advisor put me on hold for about 10 minutes and said that's ok the payment will be in you account on or around the switch date, failing that if it was after it would go to my new bank. They did not even ask my new banks details other than who the bank was or switching dates etc, is this how it is? I thought they would need the switching start date details, completion date, new bank details e.g. sort code and acc number? Basically I'm not sure if the advisor was just fobbing me off so if someone can confirm who has done this? Thank you
Yes, the switching process is controlled by the new bank not the old one, so you don't need to tell your old bank anything (other than to claim the leaving payment), they will be instructed as to what they need to do by the new one.

The switching service means that FD can make the payment to your old account details, and the money will automatically bounce to your new account, so they don't need anything further.

Can you leave FD and let them know by secure message, or do you have to call?

You should call them - as they will have various processes to go through with you.

It seems to me to be a bit mean to take the money for joining and then dumping them without a good reason. Why do folks always want to kill the goose that's laying the golden eggs?

Its a bit like marriage i suppose..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
