You make the assumption that it's only boomers who veto new housing developments when it's the people who are going to be effected no matter how old they are.
I've voted in most of the general election and a fair number of Local elections yet I have never voted for a winning candedate.0 -

try making it up with the parents and note that boomers are less than 25% of the electorate0 -

Most boomers are homeowners. Most homeowners are boomers. Ipso facto. The boomers veto.0 -

ask an adult about this : they will tell you it isn't true0 -
The problem in the UK is not age, race, sex, religion...it always has and probably always will be class.
I work with lots of 'boomers', they aren't rich or even wealthy. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Most boomers are homeowners so what? It doesn't mean you can't be a homeowner if you work hard.
You need to get over this boomer jealousy that is ruining your life. Yes life isn't fair but it doesn't matter how many hundreds of boo hoo boomer threads you post, it will make ZERO difference.
Only you can change your life. Stop blaming others and look at yourself and ways for improvement. Your life doesn't need to be one long bitter disaster.0 -
Not again.......hums "Play me the old old story".
Personally, I've got more than a little fed-up with trying to carefully explain that, as far as we are concerned, things were "Good and getting better...steady onward March of History" and we are shocked/sorry for/etc anyone younger and trying to do what we can to get things back to normal and then continue with said steady Onward March of History and things getting steadily better.
Just what else are we supposed to do? - ie go round in sackcloth and ashes whilst we say "We knew damn well that next people in line after us were due to get things better than we did - and its NOT OUR FAULT if things didn't work out that way"....and many of us are trying to get that "onward march" back on track.
Howzabout reading the various newspaper articles I read recently in just one day's edition of one newspaper (I do recall one of them was about some people spending up to the price of the average house alone on just their kitchen and then another one of them was about a few months baby forgawdsake that is being bought all sorts by its mother...including a valuable watch/loadsa expensive clothes/various different prams). Read and think on about how most of us aren't selfish like that, but just ordinary people with an ordinary standard of living and an assumption that you would do better than we did...0 -

I think there are issues with the others. For instance, i'm sure gender was a significant issue in the early 20th. As for religion... well that's a tin of invertebrates its best not to open.
However, cant argue with the point about class. Lets face it. You didn't go to Eton, you probably wont be prime minister.
I went on a cruise for my honeymoon. Don't think i'm a boomer though... probably a child of the thatcher generation - is that worse?0 -

i presume you'd spew out equivalent advice to, for example, the silly boys & gals in the picture below?
or to the daft do-gooders running organisations like this one or this one?
do you mind if i paraphrase - "quit moaning, if you want to improve your lifestyle maybe tighten your belt a bit and or/work a bit harder"?

I am a boomer (born late 50s). Seems I have not been doing the right thing up till now so have bought a BTL.
Finding it all rather stressful, did a pay the right price?
Should I use a lettings agency?
How much rent can I get away with?
Should I decorate the place?
etc, etc ,etc
Being a proper boomer is not easy and people should have sympathy for us.0
