MOBILE NEWS: Virgin Mobile new 'Freestyle' tarrifs take on o2 'Refresh'
Options
Virtual UK mobile network Virgin Mobile have today released their new contracts called 'Freestyle', which allows you to separate mobile phone and tariff payments by taking on a separate loan for the handset, the same as O2 'Refresh'.
From today, selected mobile phones are included with the new 'Freestyle' contract type. Users who sign up to such contract shall be able to pay off the remaining loan amount against their phone during their contract, should they see a new phone which takes their fancy.
The 0% interest free loan, offered by Virgin Media Finance Limited, shall appear under a separate section of your credit file along side your airtime agreement, which may put some customers off.
Opinions, is this something you'd like to see across all the mobile networks? or do you prefer the old style mobile contracts?.

It looks more transparent, although I don't really understand why people take contracts or loans to get phone handsets when you can buy a Moto G for around £100.
With Virgin Media, you are probably best to take a SIM only deal then ring up after a few months and threaten to leave in order to negotiate a better deal.0 -

I'm on O2 refresh and like how I have the option to pay off my phone and get out early - as soon as I can sell my 4s to cover the remaining phone cost, I'm moving to another network. I'd prefer to see all networks offer this so I can easily port my number around without getting stuck for 2 years!0
