Which means, in theory, your DD for the Halifax might have been cancelled if the theory I was responding to is true.

...Secondly, If it was the case that Halifax's 'internal systems' have cancelled my DD then it would seem fair to expect them to notify me in writing that this is the case. Would you agree with this?...

It would depend on the reason the Service User has cancelled the DDI.

It could be in the mistaken belief you have requested them to cancel it. In which case they may or may not write to you to confirmn they have done this.

It could be because your DD has failed in the past (either directly, or as a claim under the DD guarantee you made). I would normally expect them to write to you in such an instance.

It could be that they used an incorrect transaction code (final collection) the last time they collected. In such circumstance, it would be unlikely the Service User would inform the Payer they had done this, as the Payer would usually already be aware.
Such occurance in this instance would obviously have been in error anyway, and unless the Service User spotted the error, I very much doubt they would write to you about it.

(The above is not necessarily a full and complete list of possibilities, but demonstrates why you would not necessarily be correct)

Have you followed my earlier advice and contacted your bank to find out the real reason, rather than getting us to guess?

Do you have any idea how long it would take for a late payment marker to be added to my credit report?

I have spoken with them again this afternoon and they have guaranteed me it will not be added to my report but i would still like to check

I don't actually have any late payment markers so I'm not entirely sure. However lenders update the CRAs once a month, usually at the start or end of the month. I would imagine it'll show in early December.

You can use Noddle to access data from CallCredit*. It's free so log in every 30 days and see what's changed - good practice even when you're not half-expecting to see a late payment. If you see a nice green dot for November, I expect you'll be back here to tell us Halifax aren't so bad!

*CallCredit are the smallest of the three CRAs. You can also pay to access Experian and Equifax. I suggested Noddle because it's free and since I have a Halifax CC I know they report to Noddle.
