No cold water tap for washing machine?

From what the OP has said, I'd say there's no mistaking that it's hot.Yeah check as Ruski says. Just because it goes to the boiler doesn't mean its hot. Could just branch off the boilers cold feed.
Unless you have some other idea about what might be warming the hose up?helenathena wrote: »The coloured tap bit has come off, i had to use pliers to open it. It appears to be coming directly out of the boiler (washing machine is directly beneath) and the hose feels very hot when the mahine was running

Sounds very suspect to me that someone has connected a washer to the boiler pipework? Could be a very stupid thing to do. Seriously I'd get someone in; either a plumber or someone who knows what they are doing to fit even a self tapper (as mentioned above) into the cold water feed under the sink or nearby cold water pipe. I've worked for a lot of landlords and some of the electrical/plumbing shortcuts I've seen beggar belief.0

Ill post a photo later, it seemed weird to me too, im used to my maxhine being near the sink!0

My mother has hot tap just for her dishwasher to save electricity. I bet the person who installed that tap had a dishwasher on it.0

Wpuld you have a dishwasher and no washingachine though? I cant imagine life with hand washing lol0

The boiler is directly above0 -
That looks like a self cutting tap so is more likely to have been fitted by an amateur plumber. You need to work out which pipe is the cold water feed for the central heating. A picture of the pipework directly under the boiler may help.0

Our dishwashers is a cold fill, with only one filling hose.
It is connected to the hot water system.
We have had it for five years. No problems yet.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Looks like they may have 'pinched' the 'old' wm tap for the filling loop for the central heating.
Cold is the pipe to the right of the hot-hose connector and needs a new connector putting on that pipe .
£40 quid for a jobbing plumber, crate a beer for a mate who knows what they're doing.
