This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Have I missed the thread & doubled up?
If so I hope admin can sort it out.
I'm off to work in a sec, it's a long day as I have a Dr's appointment so I'll have to work til 5 to make up for the time I take to attend.
It should be interesting at work today, one work colleague described another colleague as a knob on face book, she removed it eventually but it was up there for best part of 24 hours!
We went to the garden center y'day, I chose a couple of pots for the front doorstep, got them to the till & there was no barcode on either of them, so I refused to wait & left them there. Hubby gets so cross with me when I do this, but I made it plain, politely to the staff that I was sick & tired of their shoddy approach as 50% of the stuff isn't labeled & we've wasted hours in there when hubby want to buy something that isn't coded.
Time I set off.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning Hester and all to follow,
Pouring with rain here looks like its in for the day, still off to work for me so will be inside anyway.
Dinner tonight will be leftover roast from last night, chicken roasties cabbage roast squash and some sweet potato, all cooked by OH and very nice too !
Will do a wash tonight and hang on the airer and have a quick tidy through.
Sistercas thinking of you all xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now getting light, wet underfoot and still blustery.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and gone to work.
Dinner last night was chicken dippers, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had jacket potato instead. Tonight will be gammon and egg, with potatoes and peas.
Weekend went very well but I’m completely shattered, so will be trying to take it steady today. I’m pleased I’m still on short days this week as I’m not up to full days as yet.
I need to put a letter in the post this morning and pick up “thank you” card – so I will do that on the way in to work this morning.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
Well it's supposed to be pouring down according to the BBC website but it's actually fine and dry for now. I am happy as the girls won't wear a coat to school so at least they will be dry this morning. Hubby was very grumpy this morning so I feel quite sorry for his collegues today. Our eldest came over with the grandchildren and stayed all day on Saturday and Sunday so it was a bit tiring. I love to see them at any time as they grow up so fast and in a blink of an eye they won't want to spend time with their elderly rellies! But hubby has struggled with the noise and general mayhem.
I am expecting lots of deliveries this week so I won't be going out which will be a relief to be honest. I managed to get to church yesterday and it was lovely to see everyone but I was so so glad to get home, get changed into my pj's and enjoy a roast with my family.
We are having chicken chausseur for tea with some rice so that will be nice and easy as the sauce is from a jar, the chicken is leftover from yesterdays lunch and the only thing I have to really cook is the rice which I am rubbish at. Never mind, it will all get eaten I'm sure. I have planned my meals for the week and put an online shopping order on so I am organised at least.
Well that's all my waffle for now, sending hugs to sistercas and her family. Take care xx0 -
Hi everyone,
The house is clean and tidy so I feel happier about going to work today, I start with the best of intentions but I never seem to get much housework done when I am working.
I've started a lookbook for DD's wedding - she's started one on Pinterest but I thought I'd do a physical one. We want to try to book a venue before Christmas when there will be lots of newly engaged couples looking, we've given them a tentative budget but I bet we spend more.
I'm continuing my campaign to empty the freezer so we're having some sort of pork and apple casserole with rice, carrots and broccoli tonight. I'll make some celeriac and apple soup as well to use up the cox's that have been sitting there for a while.
Have a good day.0 -

sistercas I'm so sorry to hear about your dad  xx
The man-trus have been away for a couple of nights, they left at 11am on friday and came home at 3pm yesterday. The house stayed tidy, there were no arguments over whose turn it was for a shower and I had a king size bed to myself. Bliss.
I had the final bit of treatment at the dentist on friday afternoon, the two problem teeth are a distant memory and I have permanent replacements. I've kept the plate for now just in case they fall out (I have no idea why I think they'll fall out, but I just do. Stupid, I know).
I've been intending to crochet a little penguin for a couple of days but haven't had time to sit and concentrate on it yet. I'll make time this week.
The chicken run is very soggy in places, time for me to start using my wellies. I'm going to hoover the insides to make sure any lurking spiders are removed, lol. I'll have to rake the run at some point over the next couple of days.

Sincere condolences to Sistercas and her family xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
Looks a bit dull outside as though it might rain later.
Sistercas,thinking of you all x
Not much happening here as I'm still struggling with my knee.Managed to get hold of the mobile therapist,he came on Friday and I've been told off for trying to carry on with my dog walkingso DS1 is on dog duty.He says torn ligaments take at least 6-8 weeks to heal & I've got to be sensible ( prob nearly 4 weeks since I did it I think).I feel awful though when DH is working all hours at work and on the house we're renovating. He ended up doing some shopping to tide us over when he got back yesterday but I'm going to do an online shop today I think, and have a look at pressies for the DGC. If I had some C cards I could at least sit and write them :rotfl:
The bin men must be on the way,Lyla has gone under the table ;)We had a man from the council round asking how much we used our recycling bins and could we make do with a smaller general bin.I said no as with 4 adults and a baby in nappies here part time I think I'd struggle, its not always completely full but not far off after 2 weeks.
Right I will wish you all a good day and hugs to those in need x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning everyone.
That glorious pink and blue sunset has only brought a rather dull day.
Got loads to do today before back to work tomorrow. Vacuum up and down, clear out some ash and lay the fire etc etc.
Thinking about sistercas today.
Happy Monday everyone0
