I dont think thats going to happen until smart meters are all installed and theres no real advantage in faster switching,4 to 6 weeks is fine. The switching fees of approx £70 is money which has to be paid for and its the consumer who ultimately pays for it.
Ofgem press release from the 16th June 2014:
"From the end of this year the time it takes to switch energy supplier will be cut to just three days after the statutory two week cooling off period after Ofgem approved suppliers’ proposals to speed up the process.
The changes coming in at the end of 2014 mean that once the customer signs up with a new supplier they will still have the 14-day cooling off period, with the switch completing three days after. Ofgem has been working with suppliers and DECC to speed up switching times."
The intentions are to have this switch completed within one day by 2018.
I know that a number of the big six implemented this change on the 10th November as per the OP.

Didn't realise the target 17 days includes the cooling off period!!!!
On that basis, EON are telling me currently - 24 days for elec. and 31 days for gas - so well over.0 -
I think the information in the original post is innacurate
This MSE news item summarises the position of which changes individual companies are making early in advance of the end of year deadline for 17 day switching

When I went to school, I was always taught that 14+3=17
Yet the OP is saying 15.
Maybe I need to get myself a calculator? :cool:0 -

Well I do work for an energy supplier, what do you expect
Seriously though my point was that the new switching times are much closer to what the OP was saying rather than some of the other comments that were disputing what the OP was saying.
I've learnt my lesson and will be more precise in the future!0 -
It is not a simple number of days, the actual switch is 2 weeks plus 3 working days so the actual number of calendar days will depend on the day you start the switch and therefore when the 3 working days start.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
