  • Congratulations Black Cat. I am also close to being Debt free and am inspired by your organisation and determination. I hope that you stick around your diary as I intend to continue mine once I am DF with a focus on savings and mortgage overpayments.

I'm looking forward to the new year. Paying for Christmas won't be a problem but I won't really be saving until December's salary (after Christmas). Checking out your diary...

  • I have and I love my medal!!! :)
  • I really want to get all my Christmas spending out of the way but OH's family tend to send lists around and it's a bit early for that (although we've now asked what the children might want). The system works quite well - we usually buy one thing from the list and then an extra surprise gift. We're going away for Christmas so won't be buying any special food (unless it's reduced!), but have put money aside for the cattery.

OH has been given some unexpected work so there are no money worries.

Once I've paid for Christmas I'll feel that we can really start filling up the savings pots :)
  • It's going to be a happy, debt free Christmas this year. :j
  • Bought first Christmas presents today for two lovely nieces - one from Amazon, the other to be picked up from a huge toy store that I don't usually visit... I have two large festive bags ready and I'll top up their presents with bits and pieces paid for with my Nectar points. Total for both girls will be under budget but I know they'll be pleased :)
  • OH has earned more so far this month than expected so I've been able to squirrel some cash away. We lost a couple of slates in the storm last night, so that's a few hundred pounds that I'd rather be saving... Every so often I remember that all our money is ours now (apart from the mortgage) - and it feels so good! :D
  • I can't wait to get that feeling. With dh off work at the moment, every penny is still very precious as we are about £600 a month down for now. Not ideal with Christmas coming up.
Pleased that you have the cash though, so if roof needs repair it won't be such a massive stress.
  • You'll get there CCL!
I must admit, I'm really looking forward to January when all the extra Christmas expenses have been paid off. I love New Year and the fresh start feeling and I always look forward to a new spreadsheet!
