Moral dilemma: Snooping through Facebook

I shall freely admit to having the occasional snoop through the FB profile of my ex-husband's wife (or soon to be ex-wife if FB can be trusted
)
I only have a look a couple of times a year, if that. She used to spill her guts about her marriage problems, which amused me hugely, but one of her friends must have told her to tighten her security. Anyway, nowadays, you can only see a small part of her profile so I don't bother very often. (I know that this makes me sound like a dreadful person but I never claimed to be perfect!)
Anyway.....I looked her up about 5 mins ago and there are two listings under her (unusual) name, one of which has one of her photos on it but a different location. I had a look at this one and the profile shows her as having 10 friends, all of whom are located in Syria, or similar, and most of them have names written in Arabic.
I clicked on a couple of the "friends" profiles and there are lots of pictures of Syrian (I assume) guys in the desert, along with guns, pictures of armoured vehicles and so on. It all looks a bit suspicious and I'm fairly sure that they are nothing to do with this woman. Her account appears to have been hacked, or else they have used her details and picture to create a new account.
I would report it via FB but I don't want her to know that it was me who reported it, for obvious reasons. (I'm really not bothered about her knowing that I snoop, but my ex was a violent drunk and I don't want him knowing my new married name.) I'm not this woman's No 1 fan but I wouldn't want her (or her kids) to have any come back from this, if they have used her account details who knows what other details they have of hers?
What should I do? Report, or leave well alone and mind my own business (for a change!)

Someone with a better knowledge of FB would be better at telling you if you can report things anonymously.
Alternately report to crime stoppers and let the authorities deal with it. I would think they would be interested. Then there is no come back on you.0 -
If it's posted on FB and even remotely suspicious then those in the know/interested parties are already aware.stormbreaker wrote: »Someone with a better knowledge of FB would be better at telling you if you can report things anonymously.

FB is monitored by the authorities, so if it's a problem, they probably know.
I would stay right out if it......

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

If the Moral dilemma is snooping through facebook then it's a bit late to be asking.
As for the snooping on your ex's wife -have you considered getting some help for your obsession ? Your GP would be a good first stop.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Doctors up and down the country would be run off their feet if everyone who snooped on FB went to their GP :rotfl:The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -

Hahaha...yes, I'm sure the GP has a cure for terminal nosiness!
Would Crimestoppers be interested in something like this? I wouldn't trust FB to notice any potential wrong-doing on their site, as far as they're concerned, we're all just bundles of data to sell to advertisers, aren't we?"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Report made to FB are done annon, have done it in the past myself and had no comeback0

Whilst you cannot report things to facebook anonymously as such, they do not let on who reported it. FB says:
What happens when I report something to Facebook? Does the person I report get notified?
Don't worry, your report is anonymous. When something gets reported to Facebook, we'll review it and remove anything that doesn't follow the Facebook Community Standards. We don't include any information about the person who filed the report when we reach out to the person responsible.
Personally, I am not so sure I would do so though. Whilst I will hold my hands up to the fact I once looked up my ex husband's FB profile out of curiousity, I think to do so regularly/occasionally might be a bit unhealthy?0
