Virgin Media - Existing customer query

Options
Been with VM for 4+ years and not in contract, currently paying £41.49 for -

TV - M package - Standard V Box (Not Tivo)
B/Band - L Package
Line rental - Multi 75

Can I close my VM account and set up a new account to start on the previous ending date?

Currently they have a similar package (better) as -

TV - Same - But free Netflix for 6 months & Tivo 500GB Box
Broadband - Same
Line - free w/end calls

This is £30.99 pm for 12 months then £35.99 for 6 months - as 18 month contract

Is this possible? Retentions have told me I've (apparently) exhausted my loyalty discounts in the past  :rotfl:

Otherwise does anyone know of any good, preferably fibre/cable broadband deals without the TV?

dont know if they still do, but they used to have restrictions on the same person closing and opening an account.
If you closed the account, then the same person couldn't open the account at the same address for a number of months.

it might be possible to open it in someone elses name, but there would be a 24hour gap between closing and reopening.

it might be easier just to ring them up and go through the cancellation, where they could offer you a better deal.

Usually they will allow you to upgrade to the bundle, especially if you dont have one of the current bundles.
I've done it plenty of time over the years, and they've never rejected it
  • Virgin won't allow the cancellation of one account and the opening of a "new" one at the same address simply so that the customer can take advantage of "new" customers deals.

The Op will need to cancel all services for a period of at least six months in order to be treated as a "new" customer.

Just cancelled my Virgin package this morning, Warning I also pay £41.49p.
Have been told my £15.00 discount down to £41.49p ends this month.
February 2015 price increases would have added an extra £3.99p Also
