Has anyone done this and got a result? I have had the misfortune of dealing with SF and an ongoing issue since June and it is still unresolved. I have had enough and I am furious.
I won't go into every detail as it would take too long (took the SF advisor 15 mins yesterday just to read all the notes on my account).
In a nutshell, I did a postgrad 4 years ago and received a Dependent's grant of £3400 as my husband was in a minimum wage job & also did some freelance work. Following the course we submitted all the evidence SF requested. The only outstanding evidence was my husband's self-assessment tax return. They requested this earlier this year & we sent it straightaway.
Then it went wrong. After numerous lengthy phone calls, they claimed that we had not submitted evidence of our outgoings. We pointed out that an 80-page bank statement had been submitted and scanned in over 2 years ago, they investigated and found it (!!!) By then, a letter had been sent saying they had removed our entitlement to Dependent's Grant (due to the 'missing' evidence) and the Student Loans Co have started sending letters threatening us and telling us to repay it immediately.
It is an absolute farce. We had another threatening letter yesterday so I called SF immediately. I finally spoke to a manager who, yet again, said an assessor removed the grant due to no evidence of outgoings. Sure enough, after I (calmly) reiterated the previous problems, he miraculously 'found the required evidence' again and told me it would be sorted within 4 working days.
I am not holding my breath. I am beyond livid. We have given them everything they asked for. I am now at the stage of making a formal complaint. If it is not dealt with by the end of the week, who do I contact? I am tempted to not only send a complaint to SF but judging by their track record, I don't think this will make a blind bit of difference. I believe a copy sent to my MP might also be in order?
Any advice or anyone had a similar issue with them?
