Brilliant, thanks everyone
I have always encouraged it as I thought it was healthy, seems I am right.
Thanks for the links to recipes etc. He likes it just plain, but I'll see what he thinks of it0 -
My DD loves raw broccoli and cauliflower and has eaten it for years with no ill effects. Anyway, what's the difference between them and say raw cabbage in coleslaw?
I think your friend is being a bit daft actually....Val.0 -
Hi,
raw brussel sprouts are good too, they're like baby cabbages.0 -

Brussels are the only veg that I wont have crossing the threshold of my house, LOL, I hate them with a passion! Might buy a few loose ones I suppose, and see what he thinks.
He is munching on raw butternut squash now, which actually tastes lovely. Was thinking of trying raw sweet potatoes, but not sure after someone said that its not safe to eat raw potatoes.0 -
My 3 kids grew up pulling carrots, radishes etc from the ground and eating them, dirt and all, they also plifered broccoli, cauli, pea's, beans etc they are now all 6ft,ers with no noticable ill effects and eat anything so its not all bad :)i
Don,t get me wrong, they all love burger, fried chicken etc too, but would much rather eat a roast.Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

OP I sometimes wonder which planet people like your friend come from.
As others have said how does she justify eating salad and yet believing eating something like cauliflower is wrong?
Mind you she perhaps cooks lettuce before she eats it. :rotfl:If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -

I like them raw sprinkled with pepper.
Remember sprouts are not just for Christmas.0 -
We cook lettuce sometimes. I love cooked lettuce. Mind you, we also adore crudite.
OP, my DH eats head of raw broccoli many weekdays. He recently had an NHs health check at his gym, where not one point said 'improve' on things he needed to do....including the dietary stuff. All the physical stuff was perfect, despite him having a very high stress, long hours job... He certainly doesn't get it all right with diet but if broccoli or cauliflower raw were dangerous he'd be very unwell.0 -

Hi,
what's wrong with sprouts?
Love them or hate them, I like them with in Marmite.
There's another thread going just now about toppings for jacket potatoes, mmm, there's an idea, shredded raw sprouts mixed with Marmite.0
