Hi everyone! New to this thread but seems like a good idea to measure little steps. :)
Today I've got a quote for old mobile handsets, which should get me £33- next step is remember to send the things once the envelope arrives! Yesterday I revised my budgets to allow a buffer for the 8 weeks I won't have a job next year, and paid £20 extra off the credit card.

    carrielovesfanta- congrats to your OH!

    Car Insurance Carver!
Thought I would pop in today, second week of meal planing and shopping listing, second shop at under £45 for the two of us! Had began to really creep up before doing this again and have meals for the week!

Went to Blue Planet Aquarium today with Hubby, Dad and two nephews, got a great deal booking online, saved £9.60 and nephews got in free as they are diddy!

Lovely Sunday just waiting for the Actifry to 'fry' our chips with less than a spoon of oil, yummy and healthy!

Fine for food (some odd combinations later this week no doubt), all bills paid and the cat has food so it'll just be a quiet week :)

    Hello All

Little Pink Purse - where have you been we missed you.

Dawn - I can totally see what you mean about boys. Bless them. Just so much more high velocity. Interesting what you say, I suppose personality does play a part too.
Getting Organised - I may just do that once my ears stop ringing ;)
Carrie - well I'm afraid the jellies all gone but ill send you a cupcake.

Apart from the party stuff I found 2p, 89p in nectar point reciepts to claim, & have so many useful leftovers from the party the food spend from yesterday should see us up to Wednesday.
All in all a good day.
    Night all
    Bob

  • Congratulations Mr clf!

Birthday here too today. My boy is 16 though so it was all much easier. He did ask if he could have a proper birthday tea though so I bought a few extras at the supermarket. I cut back on his actual presents though which is an achievement for me.

Oh and sound silly but I got a Next Directory catalogue and put it straight in the recycling without even looking at it - and was so proud of myself.

Need to take it steady this week, havent been very well and struggling to get properly back on my feet.
  • Hello DFW's,
Big heart searching decisions in the ss household this weekend. After paying in full for sons yearly motorbike insurance we had no money left for petrol/groceries. Haven't used the credit card for many months but bought petrol and groceries with it this weekend.
Now, I REALLY agonised over this but in the end that is the real difference. Previously I would have just pulled out the plastic and not worried about it at all. This time we used it because it was our best, most ecenomical option (much cheaper than using the overdraft).
Otherwise I have been doing all the usual - big pan of soup for lunches, laundry drying all over the house other than the tumble dryer (am seriously condsidering getting a heated airer), dog walking etc. Have escalated my gas meter reading complaint, getting nowhere fast!
    Best wishes all x
